I don't think so - I think it's additional.

Not that I'd know, we haven't gotten any.  We have to run our taxes claiming our daughter and not claiming her, to see if she can get one of these things!

Yeah, it's a way for people who missed the first few rounds of payments to sort of "retroactively" reclaim those if they can meet the requirements now. Primarily adult "dependents" for 2019 taxes who might able to file independently for 2020.

If you are a college student, you are eligible for the third stimulus check in two scenarios.

One is if you are claimed as a dependent by someone on their income tax return. There are talk of some Congress members proposing a $2000 stimulus check every month until the pandemic ends.

Another scenario is if you are financially independent (when you take care of more than half of your finances).

Note that there are income limits to qualify for these checks.

I love how the $1400 stimulus comes with a $5700 repayment bill. Oh and increase in taxes to send the $1400 back.
