Statistics electronic
#1
Has anyone taken the electronic version of this test yet? I am going to take it next week and was wonder how many quiestions and how much time do they give you? So far all the electronic tests I have taken have been 2 hours and 100+ questions. I see lots of people say 3-4 hours to take the written version of this test hence why I am asking.

Wow your telling me not one person has taken this on the computer yet? I guess I am going to have to call them and if its the same as the other tests of two hours then I need to do the paper unlimited time.

I just took the paper version. Had my calculator handy as well. From what I remember reading in another thread when taking the electronic version the testing center is not supposed to let you use anything but the online calculator. If they do that I'd definately reccomend finding the an outdated testing facility that is not up to the electronic age yet.

As an aside there were a ton - like 10-15 - of questions involving hypothesis equations on the version of the test that I took. I recommend extra time studying in that area. The Instantcert stuff just doesn't cover it well enough.

Good luck. I've got my fingers crossed for the next 2-4 weeks.

Well you can get as far as almost registering for the exam online without a testing center code and the passing score is a 48 with a 2 hour time limit (question count “unknown”). I guess I will be ordering it from my local college that is still paper. The electronic is so much nicer with instant gratification. I would rather be safe with an unlimited test than timed on this one.

Well I called 877–471–9860, the company hosting the tests and asked about the electronic version. They stated its 100 questions and that the electronic and paper are comparable in difficulty. I stated that everyone on all the forums said it takes 3.5 - 4 hours to due so why would they make the test only 2 hours? He said they never heard of it taking so long so I told them to hit a few of the forums like this one and a few others. I guess I will be doing it the old fashion way.

Just FYI I completed the exam (paper version) in 45 minutes. I still don't have results back yet but don't think I failed. The only content that I was unprepared for was the hypothesis equations. Had I known how to write them properly it would have sped up my time if anything. There just wasn't all that much to calculate which should be the only thing adds to the time needed to take the exam. I spent more time on the accounting CLEP.

Good luck on the exam.

Well here is the real kicker, for all of those who want to take a paper unlimited test, the college I was testing at now only offers online and my local college that said they had no idea about electronic two months ago said they will be abandoning the paper fo electronic very soon. That means no more untimed tests. Better hurry if you want to do paper.

Seems to be happening in waves. There is not a single electronic site in Utah yet. I wanted to take Supervision and MIS that way. This waiting is not as fun as the instant gratification...

Glad to hear there's someone else here from Utah! I'm in the Orem area. Smile

Finally got results. 68. This test is very doable. I used instantcert and the Dummies workbook (not the book. The workbook is full of problems with complete answers.) The only problem that I'd see with taking the electronic version is if your testing center will not allow you bring your own calculator. From what I understand there is a very basic electronic calculator available for the DSST. I only needed the stats functions for two or three questions. Never used the Z-score chart on the front of the exam. An A at Excelsior is 54 or 56 so if I not even answered them or guessed I'd assume that I'd have still gotten an A.

This isn't so much a math test as it is a concept test. By their nature DSST's tend to be a little trickier.

Good luck. Let us know how it goes.
