#1
I am planning to take the SSH exam by the end of July 09 middle of August 09and wondered if anyone had any recommendations for study materials and/or suggestions on preparation? I have never taken a CLEP prior to this one. Thank you in advance for your assistance.

I took the REA Practice exams as well as the ones from the Barron's test prep book since I happened to have one laying around. I looked for trends in the results to determine where the holes in my knowledge were.

I rocked the house in history and did terrible on my <insert>ologies. I studied for a week or two utilizing wikipedia for the most part and came away a winner.

Hard to say, since it is such a broad exam. I used the official Collegeboard practice test book to gauge my readiness. It just so happened that I was able to answer more than 50% of the practice questions, so I went in for the real thing and passed. Wikipedia and Google can probably fill in whatever big holes in your knowledge bank you might have, if any, but the best indicator of what you need to study is a mock exam.

I used the Peterson's practice exams, and took the Social Sciences and History exam in the Princeton Review Cracking the CLEP book. The version of the exam that I took was very much like the Princeton Review exam. I would say that if you study the questions and explanations on the Peterson's exams you will do fine on the actual CLEP.

I used official CLEP prep and Princeton review, I studied for and took Intro to Psycology and Intro to Sociology in the last year, that helped. I took the 3 Petersons exams and the more I studied the worse I did on those. I used the IC flash cards to help me prepare. I just read over the ones I hadn't already read for the other test. If you need more then the 6 credits I would recommend one of the intro to Psyc or Soc. before you attemp the SS & History.

Good LuckSmile
