Two people have defended thier dissertations this Summer, one year after their start date.
That is so awesome! I am about 80% with my dissertation this month and next left to finish if I want to finish this term. It going to be close but hearing that other people have done it is so awesome! I will say with other people reading this thread in the future that this does seem to be the fastest time. With how long it takes for the dissertation to be graded it seems to be impossible to finish in less than two terms so this is something to keep in mind. Though for 13k that is not a bad deal at all for an accreditated doctorate.
I'm very lucky, South gave me $1000 off per semester for military, and my job covers most of the rest. Its only my sanity and time at stake for this effort.
Nice I am paying mine in a combination of ways. My fear is going into the third semester with how slow the dissertation process is (fair warning to everyone there is only so much you can do during it and a lot of waiting). I am not in the danger zone yet but I will be cutting it close. It would be damaging for me. I can only remain patient and try my best though.
I'm getting hung up on a technicality. I need some input, how do you cite a local ordinance in APA7? I'm not seeing a clear example anywhere
In-text citation:
- (City of [City Name] Ordinance No. [Ordinance Number], [Year])
Reference list:
- City of [City Name]. (Year). Ordinance No. [Ordinance Number]: [Title of Ordinance]. [City, State].
Example:
If you're citing a noise ordinance from the city of Anytown, enacted in 2023 with the number 12345, it would look like this:
- In-text: (City of Anytown Ordinance No. 12345, 2023)
- Reference list: City of Anytown. (2023). Ordinance No. 12345: Noise Control Ordinance. Anytown, CA.
I gotcha

Thanks - mine's a bit tricky because it's neither a municipal ordinance nor does it have an ordinance number, additionally the original ordinance was passed in 1979 and has been revised every year since, including in 2024. I reached out to Dr. Case and she said this one you referenced would be fine.
Thank you for the assist!

Update 8/21/24
I am submitting my paperwork for approval to begin the review process to finish my dissertation. If I get approved this week there should be 3 rounds of review ahead of me and then there is an oral defense after that. If everything goes according to plan I finish by the end of September when my terms end by the skin of my teeth. My academic journey is going to be busy and tight these next few weeks but I am confident that I can do this on time!

Disseration Defense is happening next month! This is it guys I am so excited. In high school, I always thought I be lucky to finish a bachelor's degree but finishing my doctorate would be a huge surprise to my younger self. Almost there!
