That is absolutely ridiculous! You're only supposed to cite things that aren't "common knowledge". Granted, common knowledge can be a bit fuzzy but it's definitely not every single line.

So in my opinion I will cite it and quote myself in the references (LastName, 2020).
I don't know if I should bother finishing the last 3 essays or should I just drop it and look elsewhere. If I finish it, I am thinking of asking Sophia to unlock the touchstones and let me resubmit it while directly rewriting to this picky ass professor.

If you do drop it and pick it up again later you might get another grader. Best of luck to you whatever you decide.

That's a crazy amount of points to deduct! I am not happy with the grading in English on Sophia. it's VERY inconsistent. I've had the same person grade all of my assignments and she has contradicted herself several times.

Sophia grading is very weird. My compare/contrast essay in English Comp 1 was quickly written because I was going through a very hard time mentally and couldn't be bothered. I wrote it in about 15 minutes and the language I used essentially sounded like an 8th grader wrote it. I got very positive feedback and a perfect score.
I went all out on my final argumentative essay. My topic was an argument against corporal punishment of children. My grader seemed to be offended by my essay and overly critical as well as providing feedback that wasn't constructive such as "This doesn't make sense." on sentences that seemed just fine and were cited properly. I'm not the best writer but my scores were all A's up until that point.

New strategy...
I published my own opinions on my own website and am referencing it and using it directly.

I agree one of the things is a C at minimum, but it isn't worth a failing grade.

I'm not the best writer but my scores were all A's up until that point. I found it hilarious... My narrative essay was completely rushed, 100%. My other essays I spent a great deal of time working on it, failure. My last one I went eh whatever, I don't care... Perfect score lol. English Composition I was rather nice, as it let you resubmit something based upon feedback from the grader!
If English Composition II's grader wishes to be this harsh, they need to allow an immediate system where you can make the corrections the grader asks for and resubmit it. I feel like they get their platforms mixed up. A lot of them allow you to resubmit, Sophia doesn't. You can only resubmit 1 item 1 time per course.
I argued with Sophia that it wasn't constructed criticism, and they disagreed. When I emailed, they broke out my essay in far more detail like a real analysis. But, the actual grader, barely does anything besides going "lol it bad".

ashkir,
I was thinking about you today as I wrote my Touchstone for the third unit. My final touchstone aside from the research paper - FINALLY!!! If I do not complete this course in the next 15 days then I have to take English Composition II at my college - UMPI. Have you considered a term at UMPI? It is $1400 and you can take as many courses as you want. You would have RA credit for these courses. Everything is competency based and you work at your own pace. I'm not sure what you're majoring in, but they offer many gen eds, English, communications, business, history, and politics. Just something for you to think about. One of the gen eds they off is English Composition II. I started it at Sophia before I enrolled at UMPI. I needed it for CSU Global which is where I was previously.

ss20ts I am finally on the final part. But I have a 72% in the class. It is extremely frustrating how bad these graders are.
I complained to Sophia again. Their support is now completely 100% ignoring me.
My last essay... The grader told me to RESUBMIT with HIGHLIGHTS to my changes. So I did it, got a completely new grader, and he docked me 13 points for listening to the old grader. His feedback:
- You cite too much (LOL? WHAT THE EFF)
- Do not highlight your changes
- You have no grasp on the content.
I did everything exactly the way Sophia asked, down to the litter, drew it out exactly how the primary grader wanted it only to get a new grader for the resubmission LOL and he would prefer the old way.

Oh my word! They don't know what they are doing. I have to say this class has been a horrible experience on Sophia. If this was my first class, I would never return. The grading is so inconsistent even when it's the same person grading. The feedback is dreadful. You do it on your next assignment then they complain about it. Keeps happening to me and I've had the same grader for every Touchstone until 3.1. Finally someone new who had a complaint that paragraphs should be exactly 5 sentences long. Why? Where is that a rule? I can't wait to be done with this hell class. I've dragged my feet because it's been so awful.

5-sentence paragraphs is something from elementary school. I vaguely remember learning that paragraphs "should" have 5 sentences.
