Sorry if this question is pretty obvious, but, what is the minimum score needed for a Sophia course needed to get credit at UMPI for a class? I am helping my son design a degree plan and he is taking Human Biology for the lab science credit at Sophia. I am assuming he would need to get a 70% in both the Lab and Lecture portion to pass the class? Also, it is my understanding that Sophia classes are not graded and it is either a Pass/Fail grade?

70 is the minimum score for all classes on Sophia, but he should shoot for higher. Later in life, he may need the transcripts which show his scores. Some grad schools have requested these. There is a numeric grade for Sophia courses. It appears on their Parchment transcripts. Some schools will use that score and some will use P/F for ACE courses. My UMPI transcripts list the score I received on Sophia, but they changed it to P/F after I I completed my first degree.

That's right, an example is Brandman (Now UMASS Global), they will only take ACE credit that is 81.5% or higher. Another is COSC, they recently bumped the requirement to 80% for credit. Most institutions still take the ACE credit at face value, anything over 70% is a pass to get ACE credit, as always and recommended, try to get higher than that obviously.

Good point. I am obviously encouraging him to do his best. I am assuming that a 70-75% would still meet the requirement to pass and get credit for the Human Biology GEC requirement at UMPI...correct?

Quick Question in regard to Sophia.
Is Workplace Communications(Annoted as Communications at Work on Wikipedia) on Sophia equivalent to BUS 210:Organizational Communication?
or should I do conflict resolution to fulfill BUS 210?

@Matata101
From the quick search I just did on the Degree Forum wiki, it would appear that Workplace Communications (Communications at Work) would be the UMPI equivalent of BUS 210 Organizational Communication so I don't think you would need Conflict Resolution unless you need it for an elective credit.
https://degreeforum.miraheze.org/wiki/UM...quivalents
However, I am relatively new to UMPI for the Bachelor's degree questions so I would double check with a more seasoned, expert Degree Forum member like @bjcheung77 or double check with Jessica Winslow email (jessica.b.winslow@maine.edu) or UMPI Advising umpi.advising@maine.edu to be sure as I would hate to see you take a class you don't need and waste time.
