Sophia/Capella Ed. Grad. Credit=$50

Same here about the undergrad certificate.

Capella has many education grad certificates listed. It doesn't seem like the cert courses match up.

I just looked at the catalog and the undergrad. certificate in distance education is not listed. It is on myedison. It's a mystery.

Then there is the touchstone that is the extra assignment necessary for the graduate credit.  The instructions are a bit on the complicated side.  I copy and pasted into a Google doc:

Thanks. Do you see anywhere that they mention length? I don't see any mention of words, pages, etc. I guess you're just supposed to do a professional job.

You are correct. I don't see any page length. It looks like they wanted to get this live for the start of the school year and are ironing out the details.

I saw it in the pull down in my academic evaluation at myedison. It allows me to click through to the catalog choice and then returns a blank gray box. That happens for about ten percent of the choices under myedison.

That includes a lot of degree programs TESU no longer offers. The BA in Social Science is still there even though they got rid of it last year. You can ask them if it's still an option.

They say all over the site about them applying toward the certs, but the free courses are smaller than the required courses, leading me to believe that you need multiple free courses to equal one of their grad certificate courses. Maybe like FEMA or TEEX are set up.
Since Capella's actual courses for the certs are over $400/credit, this is a bargain.

TESU's grad certificate is 12 credits http://www.tesu.edu/heavin/grad-certific...aching.cfm and has a transfer max of 6 credits. So, assuming you could do that through Sophia, you'd need 9 of them ($400). TESU charges $668 per credit, so another $4000. $4400 for a grad certificate that isn't enough credit to teach seems VERY expensive to me.

The Sofia/Capella price point of $50 as Jennifer shared is an excellent deal. However, after reading through the final project, it does not feel weighted properly for a quarter credit course. Perhaps this is just my classic first glance response with all projects 'What, Really, All This'!?! However, going on my only comparison with Edu courses, VESI ($290 3 credits)  just feels to have a better-weighted credit + time + cost= value breakdown.

Has anyone inquired Capella about using those credits with a Graduate certificate? On the Sophia page they say you can use them for that, but on Capella page, it says you cannot transfer course in a certificate..

I tried their online chat, but the guy was puzzled by the question and told me to call in.

My intention is to do a couple and then send them off to TESU to see what happens.  TESU does have both undergrad. and grad. certificates in distance teaching and learning, so maybe I can do something with them.

Did you ever complete the whole process and get credit at TESU? You might have covered this in another thread, but I can't find it now.
