Sophia Art History Revamp
#1
Hi Y'all!  Just dropping in to let you know that Sophia is changing up their Art History course.  I couldn't get a straight answer from them, but based on the syllabus, they seem to be taking the Intro to Art History course they previously offered and making it into 2 courses - Art History 1 & 2.  I was working my way through the Intro course when I noticed the new course on the website. It was quite grueling and had a ton of info so I was getting to be surprised it was just a 3 hour course.  It makes much more sense to me that they've divided it up now.  The new Art History 1 course is coming in the same as the Intro course - ART 166.

Unfortunately, I'm already halfway through the Intro course and was told that progress cannot transfer.  I sent them a message over the weekend and the response wasn't helpful - they told me to just continue with the old course.  I really didn't want to put in double the effort though for only 3 credits if they were drastically cutting down the class.  So I chatted with someone this morning and she let me drop the Intro class and added the new Art History class.  I haven't done any of it yet.  But with a cursory glance through the material, it seems to be generally the same categories, just expanded some.  Hopefully it doesn't take me too much longer to re-do the material since I've already studied a lot of it!

That's awesome! Considering you'll get 6 credits for the work you were going to put in for 3, I think that's a win. Wink
