Sociology and/or Psychology and/or Educational Psychology ??

sanantone Wrote:I did not take Human Growth and Development, but I did take Lifespan Developmental Psychology. It's pretty much the DSST equivalent to HG&D, but it's supposed to be easier. Well, it wasn't easy and I heard that HG&D is the most difficult psychology test out of the CLEPs and DSSTs. Here were my scores.

Lifespan Developmental Psychology - 62
Intro to Sociology - 63
Intro to Psychology - 70
Educational Psychology - 70

I took the Intro to Psychology test and a few psychology courses before the rest of the tests.

sanantone:
I can see you already took Sociology, Psych, and Educational Psych. What are your thoughts about these 3?

Based on your scores, Psych and Edu Psych were higher than Sociology, so I would think those two should be more doable than Sociology, what do you think?

Thanks.

There is a little overlap between sociology and psychology, but not as much as between psychology and educational psychology. It could also be based on my own background. I already had a background in psychology and education and almost none in sociology. Well, I did take sociology in high school, but forgot everything.

I watched this series.

Resource: Discovering Psychology: Updated Edition

I also watched a couple of other series on there about the mind and the brain and I read this online textbook.

Thanks sanantone for your input.

I just went through the Specific Feedback (for the first time) and it really helps to get a better idea about the exam.

So far, I'll go ahead and use the following resources:

1. Specific Exam Feedback Section
2. IC Flashcards
3. Free Clep Prep.com --- (practice tests) and Study Guide: http://www.free-clep-prep.com/support-fi...-notes.pdf
4. Pearson's: The Biological Basis of Behavior (it also has Flashcards and Power Point Presentation)
5. Psychology 101 Table of Contents at AllPsych Online
6. http://psychology.about.com/od/biopsycho...ture.htm):
7. Peterson's Practice Tests: CLEP Practice Tests

I just found the following site: Introduction To Psychology - Exam Study Guides
I'm not sure if I'll go through that one but I thought better to post it here.

Oh, and also this one: http://www.sparknotes.com/psychology (although the website itself contains stuff that can take you away from studying :coolgleam:

I'll see how it goes.

Ok folks, so I took the Intro to Psychology CLEP exam today and I passed with 54. Tongue

Thank you for your replies and links guys.

What I can say for now is that my test was about 90% of application questions.

For instance: "Howard is lying down on a bed and electric conductors are placed on either side of his head. In a moment, an electric current will be passed through his brain. What type of therapy is this?"

In other words, understanding all the concepts is a must so they can be applied to 'real world' situations. I'm not sure if most or all Intro to Psych CLEP tests are like that, but at least mine was.

I really recommend this website: Psychology: An Introduction, 12/e

It has 15 chapters of Intro to Psych. Each chapter has Pretest, Application Quiz, Chapter Exam, and web activities. It also has interactive learning, chapter reviews, flashcards, power point presentations, etc.

I will post all my feedback about this exam in the Registered Users Feedback section.

Just one more test to go: Intro to Educational Psych. within 3 weeks.

Again, thanks to all.
