Congrats on the pass. If you can do any kind of stats in my book you are a hero, I HATE Stats. I know you will get Col. Algebra done you have the tenacity and patience that comes with age. Like a good wine, some of us just get better as time goes by. You will get this done!!!

Math was my downfall for years - I have a math phobia even though I excelled in it in high school. I finally took the (expensive) Everyday Math course through Excelsior and got a B+. I would have had an A if I hadn't turned something in late due to a family situation. It was like getting a monkey off my back.
Congrats on your accomplishment!
You've got this!

Sheesh. In my mind, I thought I had lost my mother's respect as I never got a college degree. I.Q.-wise, I was probably the brightest of the bunch, but the bunch has (at a minimum) bachelors degrees. There are masters, and a J.D. spread around. My thinking was she'd be so proud of me when I walked across the stage for graduation. I'd haul her up to lovely Trenton, NJ, and her 90+ year old face would be beaming. Reality alert. I told her that I passed Stats. Did I get an "atta girl?" Did I get, "Wow, stats. That's a hard course to pass?" Nope. Nada. Zilch. I got a, "so what else do you have to take?" I'm sweating blood over Business Stats. I've studied for the DSST more times than I can count. (I've never taken the test.) I tried ALEKS a couple of times. I started - and dropped - stats w/ Penn Foster before, and I FINALLY passed the thing, and that was her response. As an adult in my mid-fifties, you'd think I'd get over trying to impress my mother. (I flunked physics in high-school trying to impress Dad.) You'd be wrong. I am going to have to come to the realization that this is for me. Not to impress Mom. Not to get a better job (although that would be nice). But for me. For my satisfaction. I'll let you know how I get with that!

Yes there are some Moms you can never impress. I had to learn there are also Mothers-in -law you can never impress. After bugging me for the 30 years I knew my husband that I should go back to school and get a degree her only comment when I graduated was "I feel like I earned this degree" her ONLY contribution was about $2000 when my husband was out of work. Of course I appreciate the money but that was only about 1/5th of the cost and I never got one word of encouragement or help with assignments.
But in the end I just had to remember I was not doing this for her or my mother or anyone else. I did it for me. When I look above my desk I see an AA an AAS and a BA and I know I earned them and I don't care if anyone else knows.
Do it for you and just remember it doesn't matter what ANYONE else thinks when you finish a course or a degree you know you did it. If you need a pat on the back all of us here who have overcome our own obstacles are proud of you and are happy to tell you that.

Yes - there are moms that aren't appreciative of our efforts. Be proud of yourself and move on! We're all proud of you!

Okay, MH folks have given me MANY diagnoses, but never have they said bi-polar. I MUST be, though, 'cause I think I've FINALLY passed ALEKS College Algebra, and I'm going crazy. I think I've done everything correctly. I entered my ACE account, and asked them to get a transcript of my College Algebra results from ALEKS. First, my brain is frozen. Did I actually READ the score I thought I read? (Over 70%) Aaaack! I just logged out of ALEKS. I haven't changed anything in my master account, so it still knows I passed, right? I've asked ACE to go to ALEKS and get my score. Wait. I just wrote you that I did that, right? Oh, heavens. I've got to go to the bathroom in the WORST way. (Yes, I know. TMI, but folks, I might FINALLY have passed Col. Alg. I might ACTUALLY get a degree from TESC.) I'm panting. I'm frantic. Thank heavens I'm using public transportation 'cause I'd kill myself and half of the DC Metro area if I were driving. Did I pass? is the nightmare that is College Algebra over? I'm afraid to move away from my computer. Sheesh, where's a pair of Depends when you need it? Oh, no. Did I just write that? Am I becoming crazy astronaut lady? I've been at the computer for 6 hours, and I'm crazed. Please do NOT send the folks in the white coats until I know if I've gotten credit for this course. Oh, and I've put in my paperwork for graduation. I've got to finish this or I'll ramble for hours. Okay, I just got on to edit 'cause I wrote "have of DC metro." Oh, sweet heavens, if I haven't passed, I'm royally messed up. I don't even know enough math to write "half." Okay, I had to edit 'cause I'm getting scared. I logged out, and ALEKS wrote "Goodbye!" With an exclamation point, yet. Is it poking fun at me? Is it saying that I'm so stupid to even THINK I could have passed college algebra? is it saying I'm so stupid they won't even let me come back? Okay, THIS is it. I'm saving this post, and getting the heck out of here. Did I sign up for the good insurance that will take care of me if I'm committed?

Okay, folks. You should probably block my posts for a bit. I don't feel I can tell anyone (you're only virtual anyones!) about my possible passing, and I'm gonna be babbling until I know where I stand. When I left the office (where I go to work on the ALEKS exams), I was terrified to cross the road to the bus stop. I did it very carefully. There is NO way I'm gonna get injured or killed before I hear from ACE that I actually DID pass, that TESC gets the transcript, that I put in my paperwork for graduation, etc., etc., etc., After I walk in September, cars/trucks/planes, trains, etc. are welcome to come at me and give me their best! Okay. I'm going to check this forum to see what I actually need to do to get graduated! Then, I'm going to keep going back to ACE's web site until they give me the news I hope to read!

What's WITH those ACE folks. It has to be at least two hours since I submitted my request, and it STILL isn't approved. Don't they know that minds can be lost in that period of time? Aaaaaagh...

Okay, where did folks who went to graduation at TESC stay? I tried Reviews of Hotels, Flights and Vacation Rentals - TripAdvisor, and http://www.hotelbooking.com. Are there even hotels in Trenton? While I've never heard anything good said about Trenton, I never heard that it didn't have hotels! I looked at some near, and they were booked. Booked! Is everyone in the world going to this graduation? If they're booked 'cause of some stupid sporting event, I'm gonna be REALLY mad.
