While I think it's really valuable for people to be able to see what tests and courses people have taken, signatures are getting way too long, IMHO. It would be good if folks could compact their formatting, abbreviate and use the smallest font for them. On portable devices, especially, you scroll through as much sig as you do content.
To the mods: would it be possible to make the default font for sigs be the smallest font?

because often the person's signature is MUCH longer than the post itself

Here's a simple solution for folks who are bothered by them:
go to your Settings --> General Settings --> Thread Display Options --> Visible Post Elements --> Uncheck "Show Signatures"

Personally, I'm more bothered by people who don't have signatures, especially when they're asking questions and I have no context for what school or program, etc they're talking about

Not satisfactory. I said the info is useful, but some people have every single test they've taken on individual lines, in normal fonts...it's too much. The exact same info could be compacted into a few lines. I never suggested people should not have sigs or that they should cut information from them, just compact them.

I agree with this, when someone lists everything they've taken in their signature, it certainly does make it easier to figure out context and give advice about what to take.

And I agree with you too, having signatures smaller, and more compact would be nice. I will work on making mine smaller right now! But, I don't want to run them all together like yours, as I have bad eyesight, and yours is way too small and run together for me to see well. Something in the middle of yours and mine would probably be good...

No reason to be snarky - I know what you said. For the 10 years I've been here, people have posted degree progress in their signatures, it's a "signature" of this forum. Updating a signature after a passed test or earned credential is a big deal here - especially in a world that doesn't much care that someone just passed their CLEP exam. This is the one little corner of the internet where people do care. The signatures are awesome. For what it's worth- I can't even see your font it's so small.
