Well, I am a little late to this one.....but, yes, I am extremely sick of this COVID crap.
Unfortunately, I have to take it more serious than ever. I live in a COVID hotspot, and at least 7 or 8 of my co-workers have tested positive, and are presently out of work recovering (quarantining). I have been dodging this thing like a bullet. I was in a meeting with a contractor, two weeks ago, who notified me two days later that he was positive. Had a female co-worker that hovered over my desk last week, that also tested Positive.
I have tested negative this week. Fortunately for me, I am in a controlled area of the building, and do not have to interact or even cross the path of many other people. I have been 100% face mask compliant and am a compulsive hand washer anyway. I get outside as much as possible on breaks. Being the isolated Datacenter guy has its benefits.
Everyone that is off of work is either asymptomatic or very mildly ill. The 25 year old girl that has it, is pregnant. She said that it was a lot like very bad seasonal allergies for her. As a matter of fact, she wrote it off as allergies for a week before getting a positive test result. Everyone else from work that is positive is saying they are enjoying their time off, mowing the lawn, and doing some deferred household maintenance. One of the men is 60 years old, but a very fit cyclist. He says he almost doesn't believe that he is positive. I only hope I can keep dodging it. I am pretty sure we are closing back down and working remotely.
NOTE: If we were having this conversation 3 weeks ago, I wouldn't have been able to relate even one single person that I knew that had it, or even knew someone that knew someone else that did. Now, I feel it is just a matter of time, thanks to being an "essential" government worker.
