Saylor starting an MBA program?!

I'm guessing the courses would all be self paced like the rest of Saylor? In that case one could slowly finish a class here or there and wait for accreditation (assuming they're pursuing it) before finishing the last few classes. Keep in mind that accreditation is generally a multi-year process so don't hold your breath on that one.

Curious as to why you would wait as it doesn't matter if they never get accredited, and if they do and you complete it before, upon a search, it is an accredited degree. HR is not doing a back check on the date in most cases. By the numbers, HR is doing an average review at best, and we continue to see issues when shady degrees get exposed long after the individual was hired.
Accreditation does matter for me. My current employer thoroughly vetted my prior work and education and I wouldn't stake my future career prospects on hoping someone gets lazy. Also, since I intend to teach in the future, accreditation matters a LOT and they DO check. Also, I'm in no rush to complete an MBA right now anyway, I have a few other education/certification/career goals to do over the next few years before I intend to focus on pursuing an MBA(or similar).

They may look for ACE recommendations for these courses while they decide on moving forward with the accreditation process.

That makes complete sense.  There are definitely situations where this would really matter.  There could even be situations where you wouldn’t want your credibility to be called in to question because you had one unaccredited degree.  If this rolls out beyond FL, I would be interested either way.  Worst case scenario, I learn something along the way and get a signature decoration.

Odd response, as I never projected accreditation did not matter and only responded to the approach to 'wait to finish' until accreditation. Since it matters A LOT, why even entertain a degree that is not accredited? That is the action of someone unsure about their position, or this would not even be on the board independent of the expected timeframe to start an MBA.

Either way, best of luck with your aspirations.

The federal government will recognize pre-accredited colleges (candidacy), but I think they eventually need to become accredited. Can't remember exactly.

I wouldn't say it's comparable, but Quantic was free before they got accreditation, and insisted on charging a pretty unreasonable fee for a NA MBA program once they got DEAC accreditation. It also came with some cool perks, the only one off the top of my head that I remember were newspaper subscriptions.

I don't think Saylor Academy has anywhere near the original motivation or drive of Quantic, but starting a program while its unaccredited can work out in your favour if there is an intention to charge once accreditation is achieved.

I love this. Saylor has some hiccups but has tremendous potential.

Hopefully, better than their current certificates. Current certificates look like they were created by someone with no graphic design experience.

Coincidentally, I tried to find my certificates that I earned a while back.  I can log in my account and see what I completed, but all my certificates are gone.

I think it's always been like that? I seem to remember having to go to the email that got sent to find the certificates.
