Saylor Study & common degrees it's used for
#1
So I have not been a major user of Saylor courses for credit, and only recently began messing around with the system. Since I was currently using the material to study for a TECEP I thought I would just begin taking quizzes in a business course I know I might be strong in. It seems that after each quiz I get a set of questions with what is wrong or right, and I can print those answers out for study later.

So my general question is if one uses the answers from each quiz, and after getting 75%-85% on each quiz would you consider this enough to pass the proctored quiz for $5?

Also,  these courses seem to be a good fit for general management, and I was wondering what degree people have successfully used them for in the past.

Depending on the course, I would generally recommend at least 80-90% on the free certificate exam in order to have a hope of getting 70% to pass the $5 proctored exam. If you're only getting 75%, that may not be enough to pass the proctored exam. The proctored exam is usually more difficult and you'll score much lower than you did in the certificate exam.

As for what degree they're good for, that depends. Some of them would be good for business degrees, but software engineering may be good for a comp sci degree. Depends a lot on the school, though. You can see reported equivalencies here: https://degreeforum.miraheze.org/wiki/Saylor_Academy

For $5, I recommend just taking the final exam and seeing how you do; if you pass, you've wasted zero time studying and spent $1.67/cr. If you don't pass, you then have a decent idea of what the exam is about, and can study accordingly.

The bulk of their course exams are general education, liberal arts and business, at the lower level. There are only a few exams that are upper level, it really depends what degree you're planning to get with these credits, for lower level and upper level they're worth taking a crack at the exam for just $5.

I agree $5 is not much to pay.
