Saylor Business Communication final exam confusion
#1
So I took and passed what I thought was the NCCRS final exam tonight with a 90% for BUS 210: Business Communications at Saylor, only to find out that I picked the wrong one. They apparently have 3 final exams, two practice ones and one NCCRS. So now I get to stay up late and pay for another one. I guess the good news is that I passed, so hopefully it was a good prep for the NCCRS final. A little bummed about the extra cost though.

Unlike Saylors, Principles of Marketing, I found the quizzes for this course to be excellent preparation for the final exams. A high level of carryover on concepts. I'll write in to let you know if they also carry over to the NCCRS final exam.

Have to find a way to not fall asleep in the next hour lol!

So, I did pass the Saylor.org Bus 210 -Corporate Communications late Friday night.
I only received a 74% compared to getting a 90% on the practice. There were very few identical questions. However, I guess I shouldn't complain, because the practice quizzes and practice finals did prepare me well enough to pass the final.

When I logged in the first time I was proctored to take the final, I did think it was odd it didn't require them to enter a password. I almost said wait, I think this is the wrong test. Which I guess I should have said. Come to think of it, they weren't as thorough at all even in the setup for this test.

So when you do your final, you usually will notice there is a course with the same title as the one you have been studying but with NCCRS in the title. The easiest way to make sure you get the right test is to click on the NCCRS test link on your final exam course page. However, if you're already logged into school.saylor.org, you can also find it in that system. It will list as a single test with one certificate, instead of the practice tests which list all quizzes and the practice final exams.

So in summary I am thankful that Saylor is out there and offering affordable courses, its a great idea. I am also very appreciative they offer Corporate Communications since there are so few options to taking the TESC course. However, I am also happy I am done with Saylor courses. Also a big thank you to this forum for knowing Saylor was out there and recommending it as an option.

Just wanted to bump this thread to say that I too found that the concepts from the quizzes carried over and that the quizzes were very good prep for the proctored exam, unlike Prin. of Marketing, Prin. of Management, and Business Law and Ethics.

It definitely has to do with both the amount of quiz questions on each assessment (there are 20-30 on almost all the unit assessments for Corporate Communication vs. 5-10 for the units in the 3 previously mentioned courses), and with the changes they seem to have made to this course. Each assessment is scored out of 100 points which is different from the other 3 courses as well. I'm not sure why that is, but clearly it was set up differently.
2015: TESC - BSBA in General Management - In Progress (expected completion early 2015)

2010: A Couple Community Colleges - 57 LL hours transferred (3.96 cumulative GPA)

2006-2008: A Couple Big State Schools - 30 hours withdrawn "W" and 6 hours transferred (3.66 cumulative GPA)

GMAT to be taken December 2014

Yeah, I'm all over the place. Bring on the TESECs!
