Is anyone who took this course willing to share what topic you used for your informative presentation?

I talked about the skydiving lifestyle, off the cuff, got a 98%

You're overthinking it, just do anything.

I'm not super-stressing over it or anything. But they've assigned an element of a culture other than my own, and I'm just having a hard time coming up with anything that's not WAY too broad for an 8-minute or whatever it is presentation. I'm just kind of blank. lol So I was hoping that hearing others' topics might help get the wheels turning.

I have a few ideas now, so thanks!

That course has 3 speeches you have to make. An introduction (2-3 minutes) and it's not "graded". Then there is the Informative Speech (6 minutes) and the Presentation (8 minutes). I would recommend winging it if you wanted to!

I would read/review what options there were, ie: talking about Acupuncture or another Health Topic. You can talk about what you know and do a little bit of research in alternative health since it's the field you want to get into.

My informative presentation was on the Up Helly Aa Fire Festival in Scotland, something I found by googling something like strange/cool/unusual/awesome cultural celebrations around the world. If you search something like that and pick whatever jumps out at you as the most weird/cool/awesome/unusual thing, that might be your best bet to enjoy researching and discussing it.

Even if a topic is really broad, picture yourself as a reporter that has 6-8 min to cover that particular facet of culture to an audience that is new to it...what aspects would you highlight to explain it to people who have never heard of or been exposed to it?

Thanks, all! I think I'm going to talk about the bridal preparation tradition(s) of India. I had totally forgotten a friend's recent mention of this until Joeman said he did Holi.
