Road Map for An Old Contracting Lady BSBA

Hello,
I am new to the Forum and I wish that I had stumbled upon you brilliant individuals YEARS AGO!!!! I am a retired military Contracting/Acquisition professional and I am at a standstill in my post military career. Can you at my classes and help me with a road map?

Well, it's hard to figure out some, as the courses transcribed from Strayer don't help to see where they would fit on a plan. You should always put in the original source info. You also did not include the number of credits.

BUT, in spite of all of that, it looks like you are well on your way to a BSBA at TESU, with 72cr (or so). I may be off a little, not sure what they will count everything as, but I'll be I'm pretty close. Here's what it looks like you still need (49cr):

WRITTEN COMM: English Comp I & II
ORAL COMM: Public Speaking
DIVERSITY: Sociology/Anthropology
CIVIC ENGAGEMENT: American Government
BSBA REQUIREMENT: College Algebra
BSBA REQUIREMENT: Statistics
BSBA REQUIREMENT: Managerial Accounting
BSBA REQUIREMENT: Microeconomics
CORNERSTONE: must be taken at TESU, $300
CAPSTONE: Strategic Management: must be taken at TESU, can be done as a TECEP exam for $114

And then 5 management courses, 3 must be UL

Welcome from a fellow Contracting Professional, and former active duty Air Force CCO! I would highly recommend TESU with a BSBA in Operations Management. I went with TESU and they were able to give me Operations Management Credit for all my CCAF and DAU credits (yes, DAU credits are transferable as college credit, at least some are). Also, you will have managerial communications completed with your airmen leadership school/ncoa courses.

I'm swamped with work and school right now, but if I have a moment, I'll try and hook you up.

I went with TESU and they were able to give me Operations Management Credit for all my CCAF and DAU credits (yes, DAU credits are transferable as college credit, at least some are). If this is the case, definitely apply at TESU for the BSBA in Ops Management. You can always change your mind later, but it helps when they look closely at the non-traditional credits to fit those into a specific plan first. It's easy enough to switch to Genera Management if you need/want to. And there are ways to get the Ops Management courses you need later - not quite as cheaply as some of the General Management courses, but it won't blow up your budget if you only need a couple of them.

The OP has yet to respond, but I'm wagering that since they are a military veteran, that they still have GI Bill benefits left, which in their case, budget is not that important, and it will actually help in the form of a monthly allowance if they actually take courses.

I am in the beginning of my twenty five day evaluation time and I would like to know if it would be feasible to knock out the following classes through Penn Foster:

ORAL COMM: Public Speaking

BSBA REQUIREMENT: Statistics
BSBA REQUIREMENT: Managerial Accounting
BSBA REQUIREMENT: Microeconomics

When I applied to the school I picked the General Management route but when I read began reading this forum I realized that OPS would be a better fit. I called the admissions office and was told that a counselor would contact me and make a suggestion for the program that would suit my needs.

My goal is to get this degree finished ASAP so that I can move forward with my career.

Penn Foster courses have to be ACE-approved to be accepted by TESU, since they are a NA school (rather than RA). Normally, people take these particular courses elsewhere, since there are cheaper ways to take them. I've included which are (or are not) ACE-approved, where else you could take them, and bolded where my first choice would be.

I forgot to add, I've never heard anyone on this forum say that TESU was helpful enough to contact them and tell them that a different degree plan might be a better fit than what they originally wanted. I actually giggled a little at that when I read it. So I would not count on that to get done. I would just contact them again, talk to someone different, and tell them when you applied and that you applied for the wrong degree, and you want to change it. Don't believe them when they say they will contact you about it later - they won't.

Also, if I were you, I would go ahead and take College Algebra. It's required, and I'm 99% sure TESU won't count the College Math course you took as a substitute for it. If you do ALEKS, you can actually complete Intermediate Algebra, College Algebra, and Statistics.

If you want to finish really quick, then the General Management may be quicker, but not by much. I would like you to post your credits as they show (if you still have them) from your original transcripts, like credits from CCAF as TESU is going to treat them differently than Strayer did. Or you can PM them to me if you aren't comfortable posting here. If TESU already gave you an evaluation, then I think posting that would be even better. I can tell you right now, that the only courses you will have to either transfer in or take at TESU that are unique to the OM concentration is Intro to Operations Management and Quality Assurance. When I did it, I took the Operations Management TECEP exam by studying the recommended college textbook and viewing free videos from Udemy (but others will work). It was multiple choice, so it is doable quickly. The course I took at TESU was Total Quality Management. I thought it was a good course although there was only me and one other student in the course. Everything else was either transferred in, CLEPd, or from CCAF. Any other requirements have exams, courses you can transfer in from outside. Also, did you finish your CCAF degree? The public speaking requirement from CCAF should transfer easily for TESC's Oral Communication requirement.
