$2700 isn't bad for an Associate's degree. Of course, Pierpont is even lower cost.

Cost vs. Time. You can't beat getting 30 credits in a weekend, many of those upper level.

You can add a Bachelors for an extra $2200 if I am reading this correctly, just by taking mainly all Upper Level and transferring the rest through the cheapest ACE alternative credit courses into the degree requirements. Hmm, take 25% from PUG, all the requirements for the Bachelors, you'll get the Associates en route to that Bachelors anyways.

The Bachelor of Science in Professional Studies (BSPr) at the Open College at Purdue Global allows students to combine college credits they have previously earned with additional credits they can earn through assessments of prior learning as well as open courses offered by Purdue Global and other open course providers. Unlike a traditional discipline-specific degree program with a set list of required courses, the BSPr degree allows students the flexibility to choose their major requirements and major elective courses by creating an individualized learning plan.



Tuition for the BSPr is a $195.00 a month subscription fee. In addition to this cost, students pay $100 per course assessment and $2200.00 for the Capstone course (final course in the program). Students are required to complete 180 quarter credit hours and 4 Professional Competency Tutorials (PCTs) in Teamwork, Leadership, Personal Presentation, and Multiculturalism and Diversity. While the PCTs are required, they are free.

Students are able to transfer in or apply experiential credit (credit for learning that occurred in the workplace or life experience) for up to 135 quarter credit hours toward their BSPr degree. The remaining credits, including the Capstone course, must be completed in the form of taking Purdue Global classes (additional tuition expense) or course assessments ($100 per assessment) offered through the Open College. As an enrolled student in the BSPr, you will be provided open educational resources and limited access to Purdue Global faculty to prepare for course assessments.

If your previous college experience has been completed outside the US you will need to have the transcripts translated prior to being submitted to us for review. You may use services such as NACES http://www.naces.org/ for assistance with this.

This program is not Financial Aid eligible and students need a credit card to set up monthly payments in advance of enrollment.

When you get to creating your Individualized Learning Plan, you will need to make two lists: 1) A list of PG courses that you may attempt to earn credit through your LRC100 portfolio and 2) a list you will attempt to earn credit through the PANeLs (Project-based Assessments of New Learning). Please refer to the attached list of PANeLs that are currently available.

The attached list of currently available PANeLs is the list of PG courses that have been curated for our professional studies programs. That means we have researched and found Open Education Resources that will prepare students to be competent in the outcomes of the PG course. In addition, we have created a Project-based Assessment of New Learning (PANeL) for that PG course.
To locate the course descriptions in the Purdue Global catalog, remove the "O" and "PX" from the course ID in each PANeL. Therefore CEO240PX is called CE240 at Purdue Global.
If there are courses in the catalog that students want curated into PANeLs, the lead time is 9 months and will not begin until after students are enrolled.

Works fronting it, and it would likely be an easy pay raise. I don't have to pay for the associate's degree part of it at all. A lot of my goals I think are different than many here on the forums. Electronics Technician through University of House Downtown + Purdue G Associates degree gives me for all intents and purposes an Associates in Electronics Engineering Technology. And far better then Penn Foster's. You could easily sell the Purdue Associates as a Computer Technology degree as long as you had transcripts.

For most people, a Bachelor's would be more cost effective.

I found out you can do a concentration in Leadership, Industrial/Organizational Psychology, or Supply Chain Logistics.
There's a good job market for Supply Chain Management, so I applied. I'm going to go for that concentration and see if I like the coursework. If not, I'll switch to one of the other two and check them out.
I'm willing to burn the monthly tuition and exam fees to test out the Independent Study program and guinea pig it. I'll report back to the forum with as much detail as I can and see if I can provide a roadmap for future people with alt-credits who need a cheap box-check degree and might be able to get one affordably via the Professional Studies program.
Besides the academics... I have actually been to the Purdue campus and have Purdue alumni friends in Lafayette/W. Lafayette I met/worked with through my last job. It might be fun to have a real life connection to a University, and have a personal stake in yelling at the TV during ballgames. I didn't really get any of that out of COSC. Plus there could be value in future alumni association networking. That stuff might not be important to some people depending on their education goals, but I like having an emotional connection and being part of something. It's got value to me.
Maybe it'll amount to nothing. We'll see how it goes.

Why isn't this more popular on this forum? Is there any catch? If we can complete the Bachelors of Professional Studies under $5000(2700+2200) with IT electives that come from easy sources, why people are reluctant to take these? I am very curious to know. I am planning for BA Comp Sci. from TESU and this looks like a better option than that.

Note: The $2700 + $2200 are just for the course fees at PUG, you need to also transfer in the 75% from other sources, someone who has a "plan" should also list the proper costs to verify.
