Residency waiver fee

I only need the capstone and the information literacy course to complete my bsba. My question is I would have to pay the residency fee,3,125 I believe it is. Can financial aid cover this or no? Thanks

Financial aid doesn't cover the residency fee.

You might want to take a 16-credit-term at TESU with super easy 100-level courses and/or ePacks. Financial aid would cover that. The courses don't have to directly fit with your degree, either. Just take any courses that you think would be easy and that interest you.

• 16 credits over three or more terms (i.e., no flat-rate term): $8304
  

Only Guided Study, Online, and e-Pack courses count toward residency for non-military students.

For in-state students

• One 16-credit term: $3579
  
• 6 credits at the per-credit rate and the residency waiver fee ($3192): $5586
  
• 6 credits at the per-credit rate and one flat-rate term with any 10 or more credits: $5973
  
• 16 credits over three or more terms (i.e., no flat-rate term): $6384
  

There's also the graduation audit fee of $298.

Financial aid does NOT cover the residency waiver fee. If you get financial aid pell grant, tuition reimbursement, etc it would likely be cheaper to take 16 credits at TESU (so 10 more credits) than to just take 6 and pay the residency fee. If you get lucky it could even be no cost to you at all. Note that TECEP do not count toward the 16 credits. And you don't have to take all 16 credits in one term but that makes the most sense time wise.

However, 16 credits is more work than 10 credits. But this can managed by taking super easy courses for the 10 credits. You could could take epack courses which offer more flexibly and take 100 level courses in subjects you already know a lot about. The additional 10 credits could even duplicate credits you've already earned. I've heard computer concepts is a super easy course (especially if you are an online student chances are you already know the basics already). Or you wanted to make those 10 credits useful you could take some that apply to a second major/area of study.

to finish degree:
3 credit capstone
3 credit cornerstone

For no residency fee add:
3 credit your choice
3 credit your choice
3 credit your choice
1 credit your choice

Even with no financial aid taking 16 credits in one term is actually cheaper than taking 6 credits in one term and paying the fee by 2 thousand dollars and that is before any aid at all. You just have to decide what you value more saving effort or saving money.

For someone who is using financial aid, assuming they get the max amount:

a) a 16-cr term at TESU - $4639, entire amount is covered by the Pell grant, $0 out-of-pocket
 - take the cornerstone, capstone, and a 1cr course like PLA-100
 - take an easy e-Pack course like CIS-107: Computer Concepts & Applications
 - take 2 easy online courses like ART-100: A World of Art, BUS-101: Intro to Business, MAT-105: Applied Liberal Arts Math, COS-101: Intro to Computers, etc.

b) a 6cr term at TESU - $6306, $3114 is covered by financial aid, $3192 is out-of-pocket (although you may get more than the $3114, in which case you could use that towards the oop amount)
