Research Sources for Writing Assignments
#1
I am having difficulty finding sources. I assumed that university students had access to all academic journals so this could be that I don't know how to search.

On mycourses.tesu.edu under Research I see EBSCOhost and ProQuest. When I search for the articles I need I can only find the abstract.

I found another thread where rachel83az said there were many places TESU students should have access. Sagepub is listed there but I can't access the articles (e.g. this one).

Is there a tutorial on accessing academic articles? Am I wrong about students being able to access all articles?

The key checkbox you need to check is "Full Text Available" - just about all of the academic search portals should have that in the filter options within the left sidebar on results pages. When you check that box, you'll only get results where you have access to the actual text, not just the abstract.
I personally used Google scholar most of the time to find academic resources, but sometimes also used the New Jersey State Library tools.

What I'm hearing is, if I can't find it in EBSCOhost or ProQuest, I don't have access to it. Am I getting that right?

I've tried Google Scholar but maybe I'm doing it wrong. When I search for an article (see attachment), I only get the link to the abstract—the same link I got searching regular Google.

I am able to access this very article through Google Scholar using both my NJ State Library and TESU accounts. Accessing academic articles can be rather annoying, as you often have to click around to find the right portal and flow for you.
In this case:
On Google Scholar, click "All 5 versions"
Click the title of the result with the search.ebscohost.com domain
Tap the blue find your institution button. Enter in either "Thomas Edison State University" to login with your TESU account (if you've set one up through the TESU EBSCO portal), or "New Jersey State Library" to login with your NJSL card barcode number - try both of the listed options. Then complete the login flow and you should have access.

Maybe it is your browser, if another member is able to access it, and you're an active student, you should have access to it as well. I would get you to try a different browser first, if not working, go into an inprivate or incognito mode, and try again. Failing to access that, you should contact TESU support and make sure they have all your access granted or permissions updated.
