Recommendations Needed for an online Artificial Intelligence certification or degree
#1
Looking for recommendations for an online program.

Educational Background:
I have an MBA from Capella University, an MS in Industrial/Organizational Psychology, Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP). Currently, I am enrolled in the Ph.D. Leadership program at the University of the Cumberland. I have completed 48 hours in the program and only the dissertation remains to finalize my degree.

Completed Ph.D. Courses:
- LEAS 730: The Politics of Organizational Decision-Making
- LEAC 731: Learning in Adulthood
- LEAS 732: Program Planning and Assessment
- LEAS 830: Leadership in Theory and Practice
- LEAS 833: Higher Education in America
- LEAS 835: The Change Process
- LEAS 836: Current Trends and Issues in Leadership
- LEAC 834: Leadership in Historical Context
- DSRT 734: Inferential Statistics in Decision-making
- DSRT 837: Professional Writing and Proposal Development
- DSRT 850: Qualitative Research

Educational Preferences:
While obtaining a near-Ivy certificate or an MS from a prestigious brick-and-mortar institution is desirable, it is not a deal breaker.

Areas of Interest:
I am particularly keen on acquiring skills in the following areas for the benefit of my small business:
- Programming for Business Analytics, particularly Python or R
- Conversational Artificial Intelligence (AI)
- Natural Language Processing (NLP)
- Ethical and Legal Considerations in AI
If I missed any areas

Optional Area of Interest:
- Machine Learning

End goals
Natural Language Processing skills to parse and interpret human language, making it useful in automating documentation, extracting relevant medical information from unstructured data, and even in chatbot interfaces for patient engagement.

Machine Learning skills to assist in interpreting complex data such as medical imaging or lab results. By learning from existing datasets, these algorithms can identify abnormalities or patterns that might indicate specific medical conditions.

Exactly, I would go for the HarvardX Data Science Professional Certificate in addition to anything else you find as a 'program' not just a course offered by EDX. You can also take a look at some of the ACE/Coursera options available on the WIKI here, also in Data Analytics or Data Science, AI: https://degreeforum.miraheze.org/wiki/Coursera

Certs: 6Sigma/Lean/Scrum, ITIL | Cisco/CompTIA/MTA | Coursera/Edx/Udacity

"Do you have professional experience in computer science or another technical discipline?

Then specialise in AI with our part-time online Master's programme. There are currently no tuition fees for this degree programme."

I'm really interested in this! The cost is way under my $15,000 budget, which is awesome. As soon as they start accepting applications again, I'm definitely applying. This seems like a great addition to the bootcamps and edX courses mentioned above. Oh, and a thesis? No big deal for me!

I wonder if any of the credits would transfer to a U.S. program?

Basically... Yes, I am also going for this... I mentioned in the post (linked earlier, "Awesome, I guess this is a viable program for those outside the EU as well...") that this is a good deal... Having said that, I'm going to complete the HarvardX Data Science professional cert first to get me some 'knowledge/learning' gaps filled just in case I need that extra info.

The reason is even some certs, diplomas, degrees, all have courses that are different even if the degree is the same, because of these differences, you can never 'catch' everything you want to learn in the subject matter of interest, the only way to get more learning or bang for the buck, is to check the courses they offer and get any extra knowledge supplemented with other OER options.

you obviously should have gotten a degree in computer science or mathematics

Quote:Requirements

First degree (at least Bachelor with at least 6 semesters) from a recognised German or comparable other foreign university in Computer Science, Engineering or similar
At least 1 year relevant professional experience in full-time
Basic knowledge of Computer Science
Basic programming skills
Basic university level in mathematics, including linear algebra, probability theory and statistics

you don't qualify for the University of Lübeck, Germany : Online Master’s degree in Artificial Intelligence

if you don't know linear algebra then AI isn't for you

It really depends on the student, you don't have to have all the prerequisites, it's best to have them though. You can see if the HarvardX Data Science professional certificate (along with the other freebies such as Coursera/Edx options) would be sufficient to provide you the 'knowledge and fill in learning gaps'.

You raise a fair point. I do not have an extensive background in math or computer science. As an undergrad, I did not take courses like linear algebra or probability theory. My first doctoral dissertation was a mixed study (quantitative and qualitative) that focused in bayesian statistics models and utilized statistical software like R, Python, SPSS, JASP and NVivo. I had no basic math course.

Thank you for the feedback - it's helped me realize I should be more cautious about overestimating my skills and knowledge.
