Purdue Global: Free Courses for Covid-Impacted Workers
#61

Also, I would presume that it would be possible to fail this class and have a failing grade on a Purdue Global transcript.  That would be different from alternative credit.  Somebody chime in to verify.  Or is this like the earned credits from ASU and Doane?

So, from what I've experienced so far with the orientation course, this is a real, failable course. I was in orientation with degree seeking students at Purdue Global, so they aren't shipping you off to some isolated "free area" of the school, if that makes sense.

My course starts June 10th, but I fully expect most of my classmates to be Purdue Global students. I imagine that whatever grade I make in the course is what is going on my transcript. I don't think you have the ability to choose not to have a particular grade on your transcript if you are unhappy with it, like at ASU. I think to avoid a failing grade you will have to drop the course.

I know the time to register has passed, but I thought I would throw that out there for anyone who signed up and thought they'd just blow off the course.

Oops, copy/pasting what I wrote when I accidentally created a new thread here: https://www.degreeforum.net/mybb/Thread-...ass-Signup?

Hey, so... Who's taking CM460: Strategic Communication?
I seem to be missing an Orientation Class for a course I registered with them (FREE class).

I did the application they sent me, section 1-2-3 and skipped 4 and 5.
Then they sent me a form that used Docusign for my initials and signature.

It's be a few days, when/what should I be expecting? I don't have a logon yet!
Hmm, let me check my spam mail - doh! it's not there, oh wells.

Hmm.. you should have gotten the login after the docusign stuff.

I would reach out on Monday and get sorted, you can still do the orientation stuff, just not "live" in time

Certificate for the Study of Capitalism at University of Arkansas finished July 2022

Registration to the orientation course was all done for me by my advisor over the phone. He even walked me through the site and made sure I knew how to access everything.

People seem to be having two completely different experiences with getting registered, but in my instance they reached out to me and took care of everything.

Reach out to advising and they should be able to sort it out. Sucks that so many seem to be having so many issues. I hope that isn’t an indication of class quality.

LOL, Oh, and for those who didn't know (yes, me, I didn't know!). The course is hidden in the FUTURE tab, the CURRENT tab only shows the orientation course... I was looking all over for this and you know... missed that one part! *smack self*

Since I just submitted my final assignment for the cybersecurity course, I thought I'd follow up with my experiences:

Overall, I really enjoyed my class and thought it was really well done. I'm still set on getting an IT degree from WGU but now I'm strongly considering returning to PUG for a postbac or graduate certificate in cybersecurity.

My specific course was surprisingly heavy on written papers and the professor confirmed that it was an unusually high amount. However, I did skip 2 papers and expect to still finish with an "A" since I had been getting top marks on my other assignments. Overall, their platform seems pretty well put together and the quality of instruction and the professor were all top notch. Now I'm moving on to my ASU courses, but I will have fond memories of my brief PUG experience.

I took a different course, but my sentiments mirror yours. A decent amount of work required, but it was structured well and I feel like I learned a decent amount.

They have a quarter credit system - not only does it make it confusing to calculate the real costs of getting a degree through them (possibly that's intentional, lol), but converting that into normal credits (divide by 1.5) indicates it's worth 4 credits, which seems like a lot for a 10 week course.
