Hello all,
I am scheduled to take my CLEP Exam this Friday for Analyzing and Interpreting Literature. The testing center I called said the exam would cost $20. However, on the Official CLEP website, it says that the exam cost is $80. Can someone clarify if I need to purchase the exam online first? The testing center made it sound like the $20 was for an Administration Fee.
Thank you

The testing center fee is $20. Every center differs, but $20 is about average. The CLEP exam fee is separate.

You'll have to purchase the particular CLEP from College Board online before you take the exam.
I don't know what the future holds, but I know Who holds the future.

since when ?
it's been awhile since I've taken a CLEP, but I every time I did I would just call up the test center and schedule an appointment and then show up with the $100 and pay there

They changed the system a little while back - last year? Now you buy your exam online using your CLEP account, usually before you go to the testing center. My testing center won't even let me book time without a ticket number now.

As stated above, yes you do need to register and pay for your exam online. Once you have done this, you need to print out the registration ticket that you will give the test center. The test administration fee is paid at the test site. Here is a link for you:
https://clep.collegeboard.org/started
And additional info:
My test center uses third-party registration software, e.g., Register Blast. Do test-takers have to register twice, both in My Account and in the software we use? If so, which system will they use to pay?
If your test center uses third-party registration software, yes, test-takers have to register in both My Account and your registration software. Test-takers must pay their exam fee when they register in My Account. Test-takers should still provide payment to your institution for your test center administrative fee when they arrive on test day.
