It's encouraged where I work, actually joined one just the other day on the strong recommendation of my COO. My employer even picked up the tab.
We will see if there is real value in it, but access to their job board alone may be worth it.

I'm always happy to complete the free application waiver for those applying to WGU (I get a free gift from WGU for this). Just PM me your first/last name and a valid email so I can complete their form.

RE: Steve and Sanantone -
With the proliferation of degrees, degree-holders, and increased interest in adjuncting, I'm finding many places are requiring a minimum of a doctorate to adjunct these days (I'm still a few years out from mine), and response from HR departments and departmental chairs seem to prefer those who have experience teaching at 'traditional' institutions (IE: not-for-profit) over for-profit institutions. My experience is entirely anecdotal, but is consistent with the schools I've talked to in the area, especially one up the road from me which is constantly advertising multiple available tenure-track positions. This *seems* to be especially true after all the attention and negative press that for-profits have gotten over the last few years due to their involvement in the education bubble and admissions practices.
As far as my goals, I'd ultimately love to end up as a department chair at a small to medium size institution down the road. For now though, I'd just to get my foot in the door as far as adjuncting for some n-f-p's, and maybe eventually land a solid teaching position.

Thanks for the feedback.
Allow me to introduce myself. My name is Wile E. Coyote, genius. I am not selling anything nor am I working my way through college, so let's get down to basics: you are a rabbit and I am going to eat you for supper. Now don't try to get away, I am more muscular, more cunning, faster and larger than you are, and I am a genius, while you could hardly pass the entrance examinations to kindergarten, so I'll give you the customary two minutes to say your prayers.
Bachelor of Science in PsychoRabbitology degree
Master of Education with a specialty in Rabbit-specific destructive munitions (or eLearning & Technology, I forget which)
Doctor of Philosophy in Wile E. Leadership with an area of specialty in Acme Mind Expansion - 2017 Hopefully
