Precalc dilemma
#11
Just an FYI It was mentioned that Penn-Foster Statistics was approved through Excelsior - this may be true for business degrees, but anyone looking to a psych degree cannot use this option. I wishSad

I just heard back from excelsior on the Penn Foster managerial accounting course and the materials management and Inventory contol course (I just sent the description for IET 113 from the catalog so havent heard on that one yet).
This is the response from excelsior

Penn Foster College is a DETC accredited college. Many of its courses have
also been evaluated for credit the American Council on Education. We will
accept those courses, they will be transcribed with a pass/fail grade only.

The Managerial Accounting course is fine. However the other, Materials
Management and Inventory Control has not been evaluated for credit so we
cannot accept that. I and not sure what IET 113 is, what is the course
name?

Sincerely,
Christine Foley

Here is the info...you have to search each ACE description to see if it matches the current course, since the names aren't listed by the exact name in the course catalog.

This is from the actual ACE Accredidation website...it is the same exact description as IET 237 Materials Management & Inventory Control only in the ACE description it is simply called Planning and Control

There are 182 Penn Foster classes listed...many have been put to bed...this one hasn't, as indicated by the dates 1980-present

I wrote them again today and haven't heard back. I'll stay on them about this. I can see why the whole process is somewhat convoluted. The ACE credit listings are by subject and not neccessarily by the current course catalog description. I really had to search to find what I did. The next step is to have Penn Foster confirm that the class in question is ACE certified and is currently offered. I won't let this die until I get to the bottom of it. It's a big deal for all Excelsior Business students, if a Penn Foster course can qualify for the Operations Management requirement....It would be sweet! I'll keep you posted.

Have you heard anything back yet? This is what I have heard back on the second course

While IET 113 Planning and Control covers some of the content that might be
found in a Production Operations Management course it doesn't meet the
requirement. If you are looking for a quick way to complete this
requirement Thomas Edison State College has an exam in this, OPM 301
Operations Management. You may go to their website for more information,
texts etc and or to register for the exam, Thomas Edison State College.

I was told the same thing. We tried. The class IET 237 is the one that will probably count once it is given the ACE approval.
