Pre Formatted Word Docs in APA
#11
Using scholar.google.com as a search engine is free. In most cases it only provides abstracts. If an article has a free full text version on the internet, Google Scholar will point to that. All of the hits it provides have an option to download the citation in various formats. I don't edit the APA citations it provides and so far haven't lost any points. In most cases, I can find enough free full text articles. Sometimes I can't and use my school's online library to get the full text articles.

I prefer Google Scholar to my library's academic search engines. The problem with my library's search engines is that I'm not always able to get the full text even on publications for which my library has full access.

Google Scholar offers free PDFs of otherwise paid articles. Search for what you need in Scholar, then look to the far right of the screen for the PDF (don't click on the actual search result)

In other words, click on the blue PDF link to the right in this image, not the purple result.

(Search term was degree forum)

Getting back to the original post, APA templates for Word can be downloaded. There are at least two APA templates that can be downloaded from the Microsoft Office template library. You can download templates from within Word.

My default settings are already in the required format. I just think it's more work to replace text in the reference section than to just stick it into Word's reference tool, especially when the three examples don't cover every type of source you might have. Maybe it's because I'm a fast typist, but it doesn't take me long to create a title page.

I have used citation machine for several classes and have never had an issue. I always double check the results as best I can, for websites sometimes it misses the date or author. My SO had a teacher take off points when using citation machine, I would be more careful about double checking if the teacher was picky, my teachers have always been fairly lenient.

Also, one of my school's has slightly different formatting required for the title page. I formatted the first paper I did on my own, ever since then I just open up an old paper and use it as a template, it makes me feel a little better using something I have turned in before.
