Pre Formatted Word Docs in APA
#1
I used this word document today on one of my papers and it saved me a lot of time on my APA formatting. This might be useful for a Capstone Wink

Yeah, at least the in-text portion of APA never seemed too difficult. Using the OWL template here always made it very easy for me. The reference list can get a little more complicated, but it's rare that I found professors who had that great of an understanding of it themselves for it to matter (I say rare, but I've definitely encountered more than one). SPend like 20 mins on the APA guidelines and it's hard to mess up.

I used the word doc to make sure the titles were correct formats and inserted my text. I then used citethisforme.com for the reference page.

citethisforme.com or citationmachine.net are great resources, especially if the professor is not a stickler.

If they are a stickler (down to the point of period placement, etc in the reference list), then you really need to double check your work. They're both pretty awful with capitalization and such, and are not good about knowing what is necessary for different sources of info (even when specified that this is a "journal" article as opposed to "website" or whatever.

Of course the reference databases will generate APA citations for papers you find, and there are several websites that will generate them from entered data.

Google Scholar has been the most reliable for me as far as reference generating, much better than the (mostly acceptable) citethisforme.com or citationmachine.net, but it still needs human intervention

Wow, I guess I don't know how to use Google Scholar properly! How do you generate citations through the site?

So far most everything on google scholar required a subscription or purchase. Have you found the same thing?

This looks like more work than just using Word's reference options to format your citations. I've never paid for any function on Google Scholar. I use it in conjunction with EndNote when I have a large number of references. EndNote does cost money.

Not at all. It sets font and size correctly for the main page and header. Write your paper and insert.
