I was thinking about Parkersburg over Pierpont but the negative is that (1) it does require one course which costs money and time and (2) it doesn't offer an area of emphasis.
I guess I need a bit of a more compelling reason to choose WVU. Reputation would help.
An AAS degree is not something I would worry about "reputation" for. It's a 2-year degree. Nobody will care about the reputation.
"Oh, a state school? Must be okay." Checks box.
Don't sleep on the power of branding.
It depends. Back in the day, I had a choice between doing my Master's through George Washington or Fort Hays. GW was several thousand more, and the programs otherwise seemed comparable, but I went with them anyway because they were top 25 (then, anyway) and well regarded generally. I've never regretted it.
But for an Associate's degree? You'll have a tough time convincing me anyone cares.
BS, Information Systems concentration, Charter Oak State College
MA in Educational Technology Leadership, George Washington University
18 doctoral level semester-hours in Business Administration, Baker College
In progress: EdD in Educational Leadership, Manhattanville College

Obviously this will depend on the degree. An AAS? NOBODY CARES! The schools with a "brand" don't generally offer an associates degree in the first place, so you can't even compare.
A top school for a Bachelor's degree in a specific field. Maybe. Depends on the field. A top school for a master's degree. That's probably worth spending more on.
