How young are you? Which state and country are you in? What's your budget, do you have tuition assistance or reimbursement? Do you work for company that has a union? Do you have other commitments besides a job? Is there a specific degree or major you're looking for? Are you into alternative credit through test out options or competency based assessments? Most important is, how much time can you dedicate to your studies each day?

In a nutshell, CLEP/MS is a very good option for those starting out, say if you're still in high school or a college freshman. Once you get past a certain threshold in age, it may be better to use Sophia.org to quickly get credits so you can move on faster. It depends on your energy, money, time constraints. The more details about your current situation, the better we can assist you.

You can do CLEP exams if you want - a good test-taker can knock out a LOT of credit for free this way, if you use ModernStates. I personally would do that in a heartbeat, as I like testing for some of the stuff (not for everything). Also, Sophia now takes longer than it used to - they've added a lot of papers that will slow things down for many courses. So it's not as great of a deal as it used to be (IMHO). That being said, if you would rather do Sophia, go for it.

As for the crazy 16cr term at TESU, I would certainly not do the courses you're chosen unless for some reason you are VERY advanced in math and those courses will be easy. The Wiki has a great breakdown of what to do instead.

A couple of issues I see (I'm assuming you're in the newest catalog, so you need 15cr in Human Cultures rather than 12cr; and you need 2 add'l SocSci electives in the AoS):

1) Take the College Math CLEP instead of College Algebra - it's worth 6cr instead of 3cr, and it's easier.
2) [sdc] psychology of learning and motivation PSY-251 is not ACE-recommended for credit, remove that
3) you need 6cr of Social Psychology, so for the first part, use PSY 104: Social Psychology (SDC) and then use PSY 316: Advanced Social Psychology (it's LL but doesn't duplicate the other LL Social Psych course, and will make it easier to pass the UL UExcel Soc Psych exam)
4) FAC 126 - Nutrition in Health and Fitness (ONU) is a Free Elective
5) GEO 121 Physical Geography (ONU) can get moved to science
6) Do Microeconomics as a CLEP (you're already doing so much there, why would you switch to OD at that point??)

This covers all of your UL, all of your RA, a 16cr term at TESU, and gets you the degree at a pretty low price.

The only other thing you might consider was doing PSY-379: Social Psychology through TESU during that term, and getting rid of the UExcel exam entirely; and then do Applied Liberal Arts Math as a TECEP. Price is similar, but this might be an easier option than studying for the UExcel.

I would not personally take a CLEP unless either I knew the subject VERY well without studying or there were no alternatives. The pass rates for the different CLEPs aren't that great: https://homeschoolingforcollegecredit.co...-2020/amp/

Since, in the time that I could spend studying for just ONE of the more difficult CLEPs, I could possibly have fully completed 1-3 Sophia courses, it makes no sense to me. The biggest exception to this would be English Comp Modular w/ Essay. Assuming you pass, that is the quickest and easiest way to get English Comp credit at TESU.

That's very good info and advice from everyone...  I asked a few questions because I wanted to see what type of situation the OP is in... I mean, if they have plans for a Masters or not, and if a Bachelors in anything would work for their future goal be it personal or professional reasons.  Depending on their energy, money, time constraints, I may recommend them to skip TESU BA Psychology in favor of a Bachelors/Masters combo instead... I'd like to pick their brain and provide different options!  

For example, this person finished their TESU Psych for under $8K, I recommend a Bachelors & Masters combo that's slightly more expensive but that will be easier/faster to complete.  Link: https://www.degreeforum.net/mybb/Thread-...under-8000 |  I suggest an UMPI with a minor of your choice for $2.8K and a Walden Masters Psych for $6.2K, so at $9K you get a combo for cheap - further to that, TESU doesn't have a Psychology "PSI CHI society" to join for membership, Walden does!

Supermind finished a TESU AS Math/BALS with a Psych concentration and was able to complete the Walden Masters Psychology in two terms for that degree.  You don't need to go the exact same route from TESU to Walden, the UMPI option would be cheaper, easier, faster and get you there in the end, plus you will have an option to join the "PSI CHI society" if you ever wanted to...  I think that gets the name out and be further recognized.  You can add an AALS with a different concentration while at UMPI as well for free...

TESU changed their degree plan only 3 credits of Social Pysch now and their social pysch course is 3 credits.

Thank you everyone for the tips! I have decided to change to BALS with a psych concentration. How does my degree plan look?

I am 26 years old in the US. I am hoping to earn my degree in a year or less for under $10,000. I have a pretty flexible schedule, so I think I could finish most classes in 1-2 weeks.

First problem, most business courses are NOT liberal studies courses. But everything you have from TESU under free electives WOULD be a liberal studies course. Organizational Behavior is also a Liberal Studies class. You could also fill up your liberal studies courses with more 200-level Sophia courses: https://degreeforum.miraheze.org/wiki/So...lency_List Move Conflict Resolution, Visual Communications and Ancient Greek Philosophers down to liberal studies electives. Replace with US History I & II and/or Art History I & II.

Basically, you just have to swap a few things around and I think you're pretty close to the correct credit allocations.

The Marketing certificate requires 6 marketing courses and you have 4 of them in your current plan. Add Principles of Sales from Davar, plus one more non-overlapping Marketing course from SDC and you've got your certificate. Or 2 non-overlapping Marketing courses from SDC.

Operations Management: add Business 312: Advanced Operations Management from SDC, Management Information Systems from Davar, and Intro to Information Tech from Sophia. Not sure if it aligns well with what you're wanting, though.

I don't think TESU would allow you to get the certificate in Psych AND BALS Psych, but you could ask anyway.

2nd option: get a BSBA in HR/Org. Management with a Psych certificate.

@foodiegirl76, which state are you in?  What subjects are you interested in besides Psychology?  Business, Computers, English, History, Sociology, anything specific?  Would you want to (instead of just having a concentration in Psychology) have another one as well?  Having a second subject matter would allow you "entry" into another field if you wanted.

TESU is a great option, but for a BALS with a Psychology concentration/minor, UMPI would be my choice.  You can go for an UMPI BLS Psychology Minor (no, it's NOT on YourPace), you will need to add another minor of your choice, say Business Admin or Management, Leadership, or whatever it is from the YourPace offerings that interests you.  

UMPI alumni (and board members) such as ss20ts has 3 concentration/minors offered by YourPace, nmnyc11 also has 3 but one of them is not offered by YourPace.  I figured out the secret in the sauce to get non Yourpace options added, I posted a list of minors you can select from here: https://www.degreeforum.net/mybb/Thread-...or-Inquiry

For your particular example of getting an UMPI BAS or BLS Psych minor and whatever else you want, you must select a YourPace minor or two (even if you don't want more subject matter exposure) for residency credits.  The non-yourpace minor needs to be complete (or almost complete) with transfer credits.  The Psych Minor can be done exclusively by using Study.com courses, voila!  That's it!

Hi! I am in Oklahoma. In addition to psychology, I'm also interested in business (something entrepreneurship-related) and mathematics. I would be interested in another concentration.
