Please help - transferring

I really want to transfer and I have been leaning towards Charter Oak. I am at Ashford University and I really want out. I am just confused on the whole process. Should I drop out from ashford first? I know the transfer process takes a few weeks, and in a few weeks I will be in another class. So any classes I take in the meantime, will those be able to transfer later?

Any feedback on the course work would be appreciated too, comparing all three of the schools. I know that TESC offers the independent study type system where you just read and take quizzes? Has anyone chose to do that?

In general, I just need to know what to do to transfer. Is it a good idea to drop out first and then move on to a different school? I want to be rid of Ashford as soon as I can, but want to make the right choice as well.

Everyone on here will pull you in a different direction on which school to attend so I won't discuss that. As for transferring, you can submit a transcript of what is done to get an evaluation done and then later transfer in additional courses. I'm assuming something about Charter Oak caught your eye so I'll let someone from that school tell you about it. As for TESC where I'm at, I've have great luck with planning out the rest of my degree and they've taken all of my courses (and pre-approved additional courses to transfer in). I don't think any of the schools are a bad choice, you just need to make a careful decision on which one is best for you. You could also submit your transcript to more than one school and see if it makes a difference in your choice (of course you'd have to pay for that from each school). I have yet to take any courses other than a PLA through TESC but I plan to in July to finish off the last credits of my degree. For the majority of courses they offer online courses and guided study courses. They also have a few different ways to get credit through TECEP exams or Prior Learning Assessment. I'd encourage you to find the school which offers the degree you want, along with the mix of services, transfer credit, and price that works best for you. Once you share your intended major and school choice you'll find a lot of helpful people to guide you along the way.

You're talking about e-Packs. Those aren't covered by financial aid unless you choose the Comprehensive Tuition Plan in which you still have to take at least 24 credits in online or guided study courses per year in order to get the full disbursement. The best school for you depends on your program of choice and financial situation.

Unless you are bringing in a lot of courses (credits) none of the Big 3 are ideal. Most folks on this board use credit by exam and other sources to cobble together the number of credits needed for the degree...then transfer it to Charter Oak, Excelsior, or Thomas Edison. Only in certain circumstances do we actually take courses at the school.

If your plan is to continue taking traditional courses I would reccomend you pick a State school with a good oline program.
