Please Help Choosing a New Degree Program
#11
You should "decide" on the degree and school of choice, if you're still on the fence, I would stay with the recommendation of BABA Marketing Concentration if that's what you wanted to go into as per your previous post: https://www.degreeforum.net/mybb/Thread-...hia?page=3

In regards to UMPI and other schools, it's confusing about the "area of study, concentration, emphasis, focus, major/minor".  The schools determine that, but we just accidentally use the wrong wording sometimes. @OP, list of minors here: https://www.degreeforum.net/mybb/Thread-...or-Inquiry

Having said that, you can also decide on the UMPI BAS with a minor listed above, or two even.  It all depends on what you're trying to do!  The BAS is a logical ladder for your AAS as the AAS already has 45 "technical credits".  You may just want to "finish the BAS" and start grad school next!

For those who are looking at the Pierpont BOG AAS and ladder onto UMPI BAS, you need 40 technical credits.  AAS has 39 elective credits you can pick from, you can choose all technical courses for those and use the 1 credit ASU UL course at $25 to complete the requirements!  Voila, you can now apply for the UMPI BLS and ask the academic advisor to change that to the BAS.

I'm not sure how the Pierpont AAS has 45 technical credits. UMPI may not see 45 technical credits. Someone on here recently was told they didn't qualify for the BAS at UMPI after completing the AAS at Pierpont because they didn't have the 40+ technical credits. UMPI considers technical credits to be in specific fields based on info on their website:

@ss20ts, Pierpont doesn't, but the OP's AAS in Advertising Design does.  That was just a note to have people remember that requirement.  I would suggest OP and any potential student to apply for the BAS and get more details and pre-approve those "technical credits".  I recall the person who didn't get the BLS to BAS had all Business courses, none were technical.

Just an interesting tidbit - From the link you provided, there are some discrepancies I can see in the AAS > BAS, some don't match at all! Example: How the heck does AAS Computer and Network Technician get transferred into the BAS, English and Professional Communication Minors.  Easy, the previous courses are all shifted to the "60-62 electives".

@javabeanstudio, You should review this link if you're still a bit "frustrated" with the UMPI BABA evaluation, the reason is because of the "electives", your current courses don't go well into the requirements for general education or business and the BABA only allows 18-21 whereas the BAS/BLS allows 60-62 credits - so, as per my previous post above and the post I link here, you should email UMPI advisor and ask to switch to the BAS with a minor of your choice. https://www.degreeforum.net/mybb/Thread-...#pid368544

I have an AAS in Bus Admin and wasn't eligible for the BAS. I have well over 40 credits in business and over 40 in hospitality/culinary arts and was still denied. They have clamped down on accepting students into the program. According to the link below Bus Admin is included in the technical credits.

UMPI didn't have a comp sci a degree until last year. So if someone transferred there with an AAS in anything tech related they needed to get a bachelor's in a different field.
