Peterson tests
#1
Hello all, I have purchased IC which is a great learning site and I was wondering if the peterson testing site is free or has a fee also? Can anyone direct me? Thank you, Cindy

The Peterson's site is free for the military, however there is nothing stopping anyone else from going to it, follow this link: US Air Force - Education and Library Resource Center - CLEP Center

The code you'll need is FL5518, I believe someone posted it here last week. Feel free to use the search function as there have been a lot of posts concerning this very subject. Welcome to the forum and good luck with your educational endeavors! Lee

I studied purely IC for a while till memorization. Now I took a peterson test at home and found it very difficult. Is this another test I have to commit to memory in studying, some are basic from IC both others are confusing, is this how the actual CLEP test is? Cause if so I really got to start over again, only IC would not be enough for me. Thanks....

Cindy, to alleviate your fears...the Peterson's practice tests are usually a good deal more difficult than the actual exams. It's by design...to make sure you understand the material covered...not simply memorizing the correct answer for the IC questions. The best part of IC is not necessarily memorizing the right answer, it's in reading the explanations as to why your answer is correct or incorrect.

If you're able to do well on the Peterson's practice exams, then the actual CLEP usually will not be as difficult. For some exams, IC is more than enough to pass....for others, you need other resources such as Wikipedia, Sparknotes, etc. Feel free to ask questions. Smile

You are very welcome! This forum is the perfect place to come, search out questions you may have, and ask them if the answer is not readily available. I'm sure, you too, will be a viable part by posting your feedback when you take an exam. The forum is reciprocal, each adding their inputs into one collective source. Welcome and feel free to join in! Lee

I agree with Matymus; Peterson exams are usually harder than the actual CLEP. You only need to get a little over 50% correct to pass the official exam. I usually go for 60& just to be on the safe side though. You don't have to memorize the Petersons practice test questions, but after you receive your score it is a good idea to look through the questions again. At the bottom of the question there will be an explanation of the correct answer, which can help you determine why you got the wrong answer. You can then supplement at Wikipedia if you need help getting broad concepts down.

Good luck & don't give up! :p

I took a peterson clep test 100 questions at home and got 37 wrong, that must be bad, I guess I need to study more. So nervous doing this at home by myself and unable to discuss verbally with someone, Thanks for all your input!! Cindy
