Pausing Enrollment at TESU
#1
I am enrolled at Thomas Edison in the Computer Science program (with 90 credits). I have an opportunity to pursue a degree in Nursing from a different school using a government program. The problem is, to pursue this opportunity I can not finish the TESU degree first. The government program will only pay for a first bachelors.

I can not find much direction on this. I found an article on tesu.edu called Inactive Students to Apply for Graduation, but it is too vague to be helpful. I've read here that TESU students get locked into a degree plan and that their degree plan might change if they leave and come back.

Note that the degree from the other school will take me a minimum of two years and as much as four. Given this, my questions are:

1. Is there any way to pause my student status, keeping my current degree plan?

2. If not, how often does TESU change the Computer Science degree plan? Is there somewhere I can see historic changes?

Any other advice or guidance is welcome.

One question and your answer will determine the outcome.... Does this new shirt look good on me? Just kidding... When you mentioned you're enrolled, did you take any classes with TESU? No, not TECEPS. Yes, your answer determines the outcome.

I have taken a TECEP before, but I'm also taking SOS-1100 now.

If you keep taking the one-credit TECEP every year for $50, you can keep your student status active for many years. As an active student, you get a discount off Amazon membership, Spotify, etc., so it usually pays for itself.

Medical Terminology is the only one that is 1 credit, right? I can register for that course, not take the exam, and register for it again later to keep my status active?

Be aware that your Nursing school may object to you continuing to be enrolled at TESU. If they don't, then maintaining enrollment may be your easiest path.

The CS degree has been fairly stable for a while, but there's really no guessing when they might make significant changes. One thing you can do to help insulate yourself from changes is to transfer as much of your alt credit as possible before starting at the next school. That way, if they change the transfer equivalencies, you will hopefully not be affected. No guarantees though, if you're inactive for long enough.

Congratulations on your accomplishment thus far... By doing the cornerstone, you've got 3 years! To be on the safe side, I'd recommend the TECEPs to enroll yearly. But if you want to save cash, you've got it in the back of the mind, 3 years.
