Pats20 TESU questions
#1
(07-30-2022, 01:05 PM)rachel83az Wrote: FYI, if you plan to complete 2 degrees at TESU, I would suggest going for the BACS first but not graduating. Then complete the BSBA. Then graduate. If you graduate in between them, you would be required to complete 30 NEW credits toward the BSBA. This could be annoying and take longer.

For Software Engineering, there are two possible solutions, both of them currently untested. Saylor has an UL Software Engineering course and there is a SAS certificate that has been recommended for 3 UL credits in Software Engineering. https://degreeforum.miraheze.org/wiki/Coursera We do NOT know if TESU accepts either one as being the same as CIS-351 or even if they accept them as UL.

For gen ed credits, you MUST fill parts A, B, & C with relevant courses. You cannot fill them with courses from part D. Check https://degreeforum.miraheze.org/wiki/Sa...ts_Roadmap to see your options. You can fill the electives with whatever you want, but it'll be easiest/fastest if you fill the electives with courses for your 2nd degree.

It looks like you're in the UK? If you're still there, you might want to see how far you are from a CLEP testing center. IIRC, there are 2 in the UK that are open to the public: one near London, one near Manchester. That could be an easy way to quickly test out of parts A, B, & C that aren't covered by quick Sophia courses. I think a couple of international students have reported success in getting & using ModernStates vouchers for CLEP exams, despite not being in the US.
If you were to wait till after your first degree was conferred, would you have to re-qualify for residency ?

IIRC, the residency waiver is good for 12 months after degree completion. If you don't complete a second degree before that year is up, you pay the waiver again. If you take at least 16 credits at TESU to avoid the waiver, that's permanent. You never have to pay the waiver again for a degree.
In progress:
TESU - BA Computer Science; BSBA CIS; ASNSM Math & CS; ASBA

Completed:
Pierpont - AAS BOG
Sophia (so many), The Institutes (old), Study.com (5 courses)
ASU: Human Origins, Astronomy, Intro Health & Wellness, Western Civilization, Computer Appls & Info Technology, Intro Programming
Strayer: CIS175, CIS111, WRK100, MAT210

https://www.tesu.edu/tuition/fees

Quote:NOTE: The Credit Hour Residency Waiver Fee applies to students who have not earned at least 16 Semester Hours from the University’s Online (OL), Guided Study (GS) or e-Pack (EP) courses towards their associate or bachelor’s degree, or to students who have not earned at least 50% of their credits for their certificate from TESU.

If a student pays either residency waiver fee or does not graduate within 15 months, they will be required to pay additional credit hour residency waiver fees.

Students who successfully graduate from their first associate degree at TESU and pay the waiver will have been deemed to meet the University’s Credit Hour Residency requirement for both the completed associate degree and their first bachelor’s degree should they pursue one at TESU. The certificate residency fee may be applied toward the first associates/bachelors’ residency fee if the student completes their degree at TESU.

Students will be responsible for any increase in credit hour residency fees if the fee paid for the associate degree is less than the current fee at the time the student applies for graduation for their first bachelor’s degree.

Students with questions about the Credit Hour Residency Waiver are encouraged to speak with their TESU advisor.

Aside from the residency waiver issue, if you don't graduate with both degrees at the same time the second degree requires that 'you must complete a minimum of 24 additional credits in the area of study/core beyond the date your most recent undergraduate degree was completed (conferred)'.  So you'll want to plan accordingly on what those 24 credits will be ahead of time.
