Passed Intro to Psychology
#1
(Introduction to Psychology)

I passed this exam yesterday using the REA book/software with 2 exams, and InstantCert. I thought the exam was very difficult because about only half of information on the exam was very specific to the materials I used to study. There were dozens of questions in which the 5 multiple choice answers were words I'd never seen before, let alone know what they meant.

About 1/3 of they way through the exam I just chalked it up as a loss but decided to complete the exam anyways. I went throught the exam two complete times to make sure I selected the best possible answer. I wound up passing with a 64/50. I was very surprised. The only thing I can think of is all the studying I did must have had more benefit than I thought. I read the REA book and then studied about 1-2 hours a day for 2 weeks.

Don't take this exam lightly.

Congratulations -- you've passed. Remember, the testing company also inserts "test" questions for future exams -- to see if they are valid questions to insert later on.

You never know which test you will get, as there are multiple versions. That is why other posters on the forum try to remind you it is not so much about memorizing the IC cards as it is grasping the concepts and overall information.

You may decide to get additional material for any additional exams. I have found that is important to me sometimes. I have often purchased a used textbook and studied it first, then IC and REA, with practice exams. I just want to know more about the subject and try to retain it. Others reference using whatever is available at their public library, which keeps the costs down.

Frankly -- that is not always the case, though. Other times, I just want to get through them and move on. The subject does not really interest me.

If you plan on taking any other psych exams, you will want to check the specific exam feed back in the forum, as there are suggestions about sequencing these to get the most benefit of overlapping of information.

Eitherway, it is another 3 credits at a great price!

Since I took the Into Psy exam I am not able to take any other Psy CLEPs or DSSTs. (University rules.) However, I believe I can take Intro Soc next.
