Can anyone tell me if taking a Paper Based Test means it is the New or Old version of the test. I am taking my tests in Afghanistan and all they have are the paper based tests. As I understand it there are quite a few differences in many tests in reference to what you need to study with the new versions. Can anyone tell me if this is accurate or not?

Welcome to the forum!
I think the answer to your question will be based on the fact that you are in the military. I am sure someone on here will be able to tell you how this works.
Thank you for your service!
For civilians, the answer is that it depends on which version your test center has. Here is my experience with this situation about a year ago:

I'm wondering this as well. I took the written Public Speaking DSST in September 2010 and received a 2-digit score. If there is a difference in what should be studied that would be very helpful.

First, thank-you for your service. (Okay, thanks for your serice IF you're a service member associated with NATO forces. If you're in Afghanistan as a member of the Taliban, come over from the dark side.) Second, I tried calling a toll-free number to get your answer, but it was closed on the weekend. If I can remember, I'll call to see if I can find out tomorrow.

The last paper based test I took on base (Intro to Computing) was a new version, as indicated by the three digit score I received. It's entirely possible that any updated computer based exam also has an updated paper based counterpart.

Called today, and was told that the paper- and computer-based tests draw from the same knowledge base. That said, you might want to look at this web site. Scroll down on the left. It shows the passage rates for computer-based and paper-based exams.
