It appears to include tons of institutions where "competency-based education" is used loosely and the programs don't have the CBE features readers here are typically looking for like self-pacing and accelerability. It likely even lists many programs that require traditional face-to-face attendance but with some CBE features. Not including links for each program is a major limitation in usefulness. I've tried using ChatGPT to research schools before and I've noticed it's much more inaccurate than normal inquiries. It's probably a situation of "Garbage in, Garbage out." I've checked the sources that ChatGPT used, and a lot of the school program websites were vague and those degree list/rank websites had incorrect/outdated information.
There are too many errors on this list. I've previously looked into more than half of those schools and most didn't have CBE degree programs. For example, this semester I helped a friend do research in Ohio. There are 5 schools from Ohio on the list: Franklin University, The Ohio State University, University of Cincinnati, Tiffin University, and Ohio University. As far as I know, none of these schools have CBE degrees.
To expand a little on Ohio, my friend (zero to Pierpont AAS) wasn't interested in what's usually recommended here as he wanted go more traditional for the rest of his education (and pursue several internships). Franklin is known here, Ohio State doesn't have anything special. However, University of Cincinnati, Tiffin University, and Ohio University have bachelor's degrees where if you have an associates degree, you just need to complete ~60 semester based credits to graduate. There's a lot of similar programs within Ohio and nationally, but my friend was looking for an in-state university. He will be using pell grant so the additional tuition isn't an issue, but you should go with the recommended schools if you're paying out of pocket and/or want to graduate quicker.

You can't delete your own thread, and it's pretty rare for a mod to remove an established one.
There are both AI optimists and pessimists. There are both AI optimists and pessimists. An AI pessimist might believe that ChatGPT, for example, can’t reliably answer a question like generating a list of CBE colleges. An AI optimist would say it’s just a matter of trial and error of using the right prompts.
It's a bit lazy to prompt once, get a result you don't like, and then give up. On the other hand, at some point ChatGPT might just find our WIKI, quote it back to you, and then we’ve accomplished nothing.
Which begs the question: are there any CBE programs we’ve missed in the WIKI? Maybe. The only way to find out is to figure out where the nerdy students hang out, then ask ChatGPT to go down that rabbit hole and see what it can dig up. Start with Reddit, for example.
Degrees: BA Computer Science, BS Business Administration with a concentration in CIS, AS Natural Science & Math, TESU. 4.0 GPA 2022.
Course Experience: CLEP, Instantcert, Sophia.org, Study.com, Straighterline.com, Onlinedegree.org, Saylor.org, Csmlearn.com, and TEL Learning.
Certifications: W3Schools PHP, Google IT Support, Google Digital Marketing, Google Project Management

LevelUp,
I also use a.i. assistances a lot. More for "mastering it", but I have found that "Grok" seems better at lists like this, but even so ... the a.i. needs to be double checked like its a "fiver gig worker", making (at best) assumptions, and (at worst) outright lying.
Super good tool, but "measure 2x, cut 1x", IMHO ... example = go to the "free sources of credit" page, and select the "discussion" page at top, you will see the "master list of free" credits I had Grok make (and then I posted it there), which is very good, but is filled with assumptions and incorrect info .. I have found only "manual double checking" reliable

Sorry to interject my 2 cents

This is a workable list for people to go through if they ever wanted a CBE program that is not on the WIKI, some may exist and may be more beneficial than others as it has a subject matter different than what is currently offered. I would keep the thread for reference purposes and planning of CBE options to work with, there may be a gem in that list if someone digs deep enough...

Or Google. Just looking at Ohio CBE degrees:

Basically, don't expect a response as I don't respond to all PM's, in fact, I selectively ignore many that I get... I'll update your previous thread...
