Why would ASU want to put themselves in that position? U of P has a HORRIBLE reputation. I don't know why anyone would buy it.

The only way of getting out of that is to be bought out... so, it's a good deal for UofP, and for the buyer - they'll get an addition 80-90K students or so... I think the entire for profit, tuition, etc would change and would be better when they become non-profit... I think they'll convert it to something successful like PUG soon.

U of P has not always been bad and it seems many people on here advocate for dubious colleges/degree programs at best (Excelsior is one egregious example where I have personal experience teaching their students). Some of the recs are no better than U of P but they oddly do not get the same hate. There is room for redemption and improvement. Other for-profit colleges have followed the same path and seem to have improved. Not my cup of tea but I wouldn't blanket write them off.

I signed up for the MS Psychology Direct Assessment program, not sure what difference there would be since they didn't allow me to transfer any credits in -- including the cognitive science class I took in my PhD program. We shall see what's out there soon, class starts today...
I would also be curious about the acquisition, as many people say it may very well be one of those "global campuses" affiliated with UI. Let's see what they would share and what will show on their transcripts. Some of the ext schools have transcripts organized in the same way as their main campus, I doubt this one would be the same, still be interested to see what would come though.

Exactly, I am hoping to see this converted successfully, similar to PUG and hopefully at an even more affordable price than now...

That’s exactly why I signed up now, I was afraid that they would charge more than it is today. I remember vaguely that one California university marked their price up as soon as they were acquired by another university. Wonder if they would change how they teach afterwards, right now it’s just readings and milestones (maybe that’s because I’m in the “direct assessment” program, could someone in other programs verify this?), I wouldn’t be surprised if they throw some proctored exams in after the acquisition.
