My fiance transferred two years of spanish from the local CC for a total of 6 credits. The private school she transferred into requires 8 credits (2 years @ 4 credits each). They are telling her she must take another 2 credits to graduate and won't offer a waiver. They also rarely offer the third year Spanish class. She has tried multiple times to complete the third year spanish at her local CC but it is 100% online and the course software is evil (it is extremely particular about the way you form your response -- her native speaking grandmother couldn't pass the examples).
Does anyone know of any options at other schools? This is just a hurdle to her graduation at this point and wants an easy option, preferably something that would be an independent studies or self paced option. I would appreciate any suggestions you guys have.

Will they accept ACE credits?
Is your fiance just looking for an associates degree? WVNCC has a very liberal zero residency degree option for an AAS.
MA in progress
Certificate in the Study of Capitalism - University of Arkansas
BS, Business Administration - Ashworth College
Certificates in Accounting & Finance
BA, Regents Bachelor of Arts - West Virginia University
AAS & AGS

If I were her, I would think about telling them to jump in a lake for this ridiculous requirement an inability to give a waiver (obviously they require 2 semesters of Spanish, which she took).
But, here are some other options:
Intermediate Spanish I - U of Arkansas Self-Paced $480/course
Intermediate Spanish I - U of Idaho Independent Study $510/course
Intermediate Spanish I - LSU Independent & DL $728/course
Also, does the school take CLEP? If so, will they take the Spanish CLEP for 9cr (assuming your friend can pass it at the higher score)?
There is also the OPIc worth 12cr if she can pass at a high enough level, that might be worth a shot if they will accept ACE-recommended credit.

She is beyond frustrated, but she is determined to graduate at this school (she's invested a ton of time and money). Thanks for the independent study options! They take CLEP, but it wouldn't work in this case because it duplicates and would supersede the CLEP (ridculous). They take very little ACE credits.
The independent study options were really what I was looking for. I think that'll work perfectly for her.

If the private school awards 8+ credits for the CLEP Spanish exam (like you said) then the first 6 will duplicate, but the remaining 2+ will fill the deficiency.

Would they possibly accept two more units of another language? A beginning course in some other language would be much easier to find than Spanish 3.

Didn't someone on here post something about a language option where you can earn something like 30 credits just by passing tests? I can't remember the provider. It was ace approved. I'll see if I can find the thread. I want to say it was posted about six weeks ago. I looked at it myself to fill out electives but they didn't have the language I was looking for. That may not work if they take limited ACE credits but I'm thinking of she tested out of some ridiculous number of credits they couldn't gripe about 2 credits.

Yes, I've seen that. There are quite a few test out options for ACE friendly schools, however the school she chose is not one of them. They accept very little ACE (mostly military related). The school she chose is really great with connecting with professionals in the community and setting up internships, but they are not alternative credit friendly at all.

If you're willing to post the name of the school, those of us who are good at finding solutions might be able to actually find you one. Flying blind here.
