Online credits but for the UK

Are there any services like Sophia etc. that offer credits accepted by UK universities?

Or does anyone have any experience with credit transfer with one of these to a UK degree?

I was looking at doing the equivalent of 240 UK credits then doing the final 120 credits with the Open University to keep costs down, however it seems the Open Uni only do credit transfer on US credits if its a qualification rather than just credits:

Welcome to the board... You may want to do a search for UK Level 3 to 6 diplomas that have OfQual (use providers such as CMI, OTHM, Qualifi) and see what options are available. Yes, I've looked into the Level 5/6 diplomas that lead to a top-up degree, but none of the top-up degrees are available in my city/country where I'd get tuition paid, and they're costly at £10k+. They could be used as credit transfer for the Open University's Open degree - not sure how I feel about an unnamed degree though.

I'll post a thread when I work out what exactly I want to do, just trying to explore all options with zero idea at the moment.

I partly want to study out of interest/use my time better/enjoy writing (used to be a large part of my job and now not so much), partly want to get any degree done so I have "achieved it", partly want a law degree which I had to drop out of due to illness when I was 18 - but I don't live in England and the Open Uni and the Level 5/6 diplomas are both English Law.

I could also do 120 credits with the Open Uni and then get onto the Law degree at a brick uni (studying the correct law) in my country with tuition paid after yr2- but the OU modules are expensive for "level 1" so ideally would want a more affordable 120 credits I could use. I'm really just all over the place.

I'm also a little concerned over the Level 5/6 diploma's teaching/learning materials - I've seen some reviews for some providers such as Learn Direct which are pretty negative and I can't really afford to waste the funds.

There isn't really anything like Sophia or these alternative form of credits available in the UK system, partly because they mainly focus on Gen Eds and the whole Gen Eds thing isn't a feature of most UK degrees which focus on their area of study.

What MIGHT work is using Sophia etc to obtain a US associates degree and then seeing if you can transfer that in to something like the OU.

Another idea, are you an EU citizen? You could look into obtaining some cheap / free credits through some of the European offerings, which should reliably transfer into a UK degree - but again, because the degrees tend to focus on a specific area, you can't just fill it up with random courses.

The OU does have 'open' completely flexible awards, but you'd need to determine if these would be acceptable to the institution you want to transfer them into for law.

Another option might be a flexible US BLS degree?

Closest degree program i think can off that would accept "credits" from everywhere to make a degree in the UK are those work base programs.

You show them all the courses/transcripts/etc that you've taken from everywhere, and they evaluate it and let you know how many modules/credits you need to take with them to complete a degree.
