My appologies on the accreditation issue. I had looked up New Charter rather than Patten. New Charter is the one with NA.
I would personally be suspicious of these schools purchased for their regional accreditation. It will be interesting to see what comes of the probation.

Agree what would happen if a student obtained a degree that was accredited but the school later lost it? On my associates I see the community college system listed but no WASC mention. Has anyone dealt with this? I am leaning towards a WGA MBA in 14 :-)

Self paced education is certainly gaining ground, I believe you will be seeing a lot more of it in the near future. At this time why take a flyer on an unknown school with questionable status. For a few hundred dollars you can go to WGU and rest assured your attending the industry leader in the field.
Seriously, the cost difference isn't great enough to make Patten really attractive considering the negatives.

I'm always happy to complete the free application waiver for those applying to WGU (I get a free gift from WGU for this). Just PM me your first/last name and a valid email so I can complete their form.

This looks like good news. I looked on the WASC website today, and they ruled on Patten and it is accredited as of 6/21/2013. It appears that the probation status has been removed.
Patten University | WASC
And here is the news posted today on Patten's website:
"...the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC), recently approved these new degree programs at the same time that it reaffirmed Patten University’s accreditation through 2018."
- Patten University
I don't know what the future holds, but I know Who holds the future.

Wow.
Accredited inexpensive MBA program here in California, I'll definitely consider it when applying to grad school.

I'm from Oakland, and this is a real school with a campus. UniversityNOW bought it when they went bankrupt. It is regionally accredited and all RA schools go on probation when they go from non-profit to profit. That is a rule. There is nothing suspicious about this. So it seems like this is the best bang for the buck then.

Thanks for this clarification and for bringing this school to our attention. I am very interested in this option for myself for an MBA. It does seem like a tremendous deal.

Only negative is that it does not have the business school accreditation, but that is something I can live without.

I am looking into enrolling in an online MBA program and found Patten University to be the most price competitive as it is $299 per month and owned by UniversityNOW which owns New Charter University. Is there any other online program that is price competitive?
Can you tell me where you were quoted the $299? When I go to their Tuition information it says $520 a month for online graduate degree. I am also concerned that it does not accept ANY financial aid or military tuition assistance. This makes things seem less than on the level in my opinion.
Is there anyone actively taking courses with this University? I am interested in starting my MBA in January, but I want to make sure that they will stay accredited.
