Obsessed with Finding College Credit?
#21
Yes, for this forum in general I wouldn't be here. My parents both have degrees, and I went a couple years without school and they kept pressuring me to finish a four year degree. They thought I never would get a bachelors degree. I did this more for my mom, well I did it for me too...but she had that look in her eye that her son won't ever graduate college. If it wasn't for this forum I'd probably have a NA bachelors, not bashing NA or anything. I went to Penn Foster for my A.A before the big three. They get to see me walk in stage on March at TESC! Smile But I am highly impressed with non traditional methods of credit. Everytime I see someone who is attending a for profit school, I try to tell them about the big three instead.

Oh and yes guys, I'm still working on getting my transcript uploaded on here, been very busy but will get that done. For those interested on how and where I obtained majority of my ACE credits.

I'm always happy to complete the free application waiver for those applying to WGU (I get a free gift from WGU for this).  Just PM me your first/last name and a valid email so I can complete their form.

Ha...I didn't make my own college graduation....kinda wish I had but things were tight when I finished. It would have been nice to take Mom and Dad to see that.

After finding this thread, not only am I considering a Masters degree (I'll be able to afford it) but I'm wondering if I can go for a doctorate. My eyes glaze over and I see stars at the thought... in a good way. I'm the oldest of 4 and THE black sheep of the family, in fact, when my siblings acted out it was all chalked up to my influence (LOL). I never did anything "the right way" and now my family is so used to me getting crazy ideas and following them that they didn't bat an eyelash when I mentioned my resolution is to get my BA/BS this year. If I can, I'm tempted to do 2 (the wiki is soooo inspiring) just for the challenge.

I am letting myself dream a bit about the doctorate - my brother, the 2nd oldest, is the do-gooder of the family but he has to work at it. He made it though computer enginering as a C student and is now contracted with the navy. I remember being in high school and having a very lazy attitude toward the SAT where he took it so seriously that he did it the same year I did (I was a senior, he was a sophmore). My score came back higher and it bugged him so much he re-tested and did worse then his first time. It would annoy him to no end that when I FINALLY finished school that I would out do him once again.

Motivation is good even if its sibling rivalry Tongue

I must admit that I do enjoy reminding my older sister that I finished my degree before she did as well as my niece that I have a 4.0 GPA. ;-). I say that in jest though because both are doing better career wise than I am at the moment. Still...

You know what I found out today, for some reason I thought the graduation ceremony was on March 15th. Good thing I didn't plan or buy any airfare tickets, I found out today that TESC does the graduation ceremony once a year in the fall. My adviser told me I will still be getting my diploma in March in the mail, it's just that if I wanted to go to the ceremony it will be held in fall, September I believe. Ah, I guess I will wait.

What questions me is, I see pictures of TESC graduates at the ceremony the last year and it looks like they are holding a diploma? Or a diploma holder that reads "Thomas Edison State College", so in that holder or whatever it's called it's not a diploma? What is it than? lol
