Is anyone obsessed with finding free and/or low-cost college credit? When I was enrolled at TESC, I was tempted to send them my security and first aid certifications for evaluations. I've looked at almost all of the schools and companies that offer NCCRS and ACE evaluated courses. I tried to find ACE-approved, online courses offered by TEEX multiple times until I one day came across the article on the cybersecurity courses being approved for college credit. When I have to get a certification for work, I always think, "I wonder if I can get credit for this."

Im with you 100%, I once spent a weekend researching junior colleges in New Mexico looking for the best way to exploit their tuition discount. I'm constantly looking for ways to integrate FEMA into degree plans like Guam CC and Clakamas CC. I even went so far as to petition COSC to offer a certificate with the FEMA leading to an AS.
Other than my daughter and the folks on this forum the information has been almost universally useless...but thats not the point of an obsession is it?

I'm always happy to complete the free application waiver for those applying to WGU (I get a free gift from WGU for this). Just PM me your first/last name and a valid email so I can complete their form.

That's some serious dedication. I thought about starting a petition and posting it here to have the Big 3 consider MOOCs for credit since more traditional public schools are already doing it. I'll get on that once I finish this week's assignments for my grad program. Ugh. We should all flood them with letters.

It's proven far more useful than the obsession my B&M college roommate had of putting glue on her hands until it dried, then peeling it...over and over again. At least I enjoyed using your time and money saving tips a lot more than finding a roomie's peeled glue hand on my desk when rushing off to class. Now that I think about it, the prospect of rooming with her again was a big contributing factor to my dropping out the first go-'round, whereas your and others' tips here got me to the finish line. So...keep up the obsession!

I think researching higher education options is a noble, although nerdy, hobby. I might be almost finished with a masters, but I can't help but look up things and post them here for others to use. There should be a way to document this as community service or mentoring hours.

Yes, you are obsessed. I thank you for it. Without you and other forum members, I never would have learned about credit options, like ALEKS, NFA, SL, and FEMA.

This forum definitely helped me complete my degree. I read the whole thread on ALEKS and that was a long one. I also wouldn't have known about using FEMAs for credit without this forum. There were other very useful threads for me such as the ones discussing how Fundamentals of Counseling could be used as UL psychology credit and how Substance Abuse can be used for psychology and criminal justice. I bet most TESC students don't know these things. The people here are obsessed with asking about everything. LOL.
