Northcentral University is offering advanced degrees, including post-bachelor's certificates, Master's, and Ph.D's in Marriage and Family Therapy. Their program is done completely through distance education, except for the clinical portion. However, the school told me today that the clinical portion is done at a site near the student's home. The program is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation for Marriage and Family Therapy Education (COAMFTE). The program is eligible for federal student aid, and graduates of the program are eligible for certification in 45 out of 50 states. Their Ph.D program offers specializations in areas such as Child and Adolescent Therapy, Couple Therapy, and Military Family Therapy. They also offer post-master's certificates in these specializations.
In my discussion today with the school, they informed me that the only pre-requisite for admission to the Master's program was a bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited University. Meaning there is no pre-requisite coursework other than having a degree.
