Hi Everyone!
Firstly, I'd like to say a big thankyou to everyone who has contributed so much time and information to making this forum what it is! I first discovered the forum after signing up for InstantCert and wanted to look through the exam specific feedback. This was late last year and I was trying to finish up an associates degree at a community college with 4 CLEP's. Little did I know you can go much further with testing out. Anyway, I graduated on schedule, and now I'm back on here ready to get back to it and earn a Bachelor's.
I have read through the newbie advice threads, and all the links they have, and so I believe I understand the basic concepts of ACE, the big three, SL, Study.com etc.
One of the first things it suggests is to make a spreadsheet plan, include what you already have, and then start filling in the GE credits first. Not knowing exactly how my community college credits will transfer into to TESU (I've decided on TESU BSBA GM BTW!) I wonder if someone in the know would be able to put my existing credits into the template spreadsheet for me? This would give me a bit of direction in filling in the gaps as I'm not really sure if they all transfer.
These are the credits I have from community college:
ENG-101 Composition I (A) 3cr
SPC-101 Fundamentals of Speech Communication (A) 3cr
MATH-118 General Education Mathematics (A) 4cr
MATH-299 Special Topics Mathematics (A) 2cr
FINT-104 The World of the Cinema (A) 3cr
CIS-120 Introduction to Microcomputers (A) 3cr (more of a review of MS Office rather than CS stuff)
BUS-111 Introduction to Business (A) 3cr
BUS-181 Financial Accounting (A) 4cr
BUS-182 Managerial Accounting (A) 4cr
BUS-208 Federal Income Tax (A) 3cr (individual and partnerships)
BUS-216 Entrepreneurship (A) 3cr
BUS-231 Marketing (A) 3cr
BUS-236 Advertising (A) 3cr
BUS-241 Introduction to Finance (A) 3cr
BUS-250 Computerized Accounting Systems (A) 3cr (QuickBooks)
BUS-269 Principles of Management (A) 3cr
I also have these CLEP's:
Western Civilization I
History of the United States I
Analyzing & Interpreting Literature
Introductory Business Law
One question I had is that a few of my classes were for 4 or 2 credits rather than 3. Does TESU take the number of credit hours from my transcript or do they give you the number of hours thier equivalent class is worth?
My degree was an AAS and so I know I'm light on GE credits, though that seems like it's not necessarily a bad thing. What are your thoughts on SL vs Study.com? I'm leaning towards Study.com because (as far as I can make out) I could potentially get all my remaining credits through them and I like what I have seen of thier website and study methodology.
My goal is to finish the degree in 2018. I understand I would get certain benefits from being a study.com member, such as a discount on residency. Are there any time limits I should be working to in regards to 1. saving money if I can, and 2. graduating at the very end of 2018 / very beginning of 2019?
Sorry, I know it's a lot! Hopefully I'm not asking too basic of questions!
Thanks!
