I think I figured out how this works! Thanks to this thread:

So the AS in Professional Studies is basically the same as Straighterline, Monthly fee + Exam fee for each course, In PUG' case, ASK fees ($100).
Indeed the choices are then limited only to the ASK courses, but still many courses (esp. IT).
I only need to ask PUG if their "AKS" are graded like UExcel.  Will update once I hear back from them.

I think I remember reading that the ASK exams are ungraded.
