New TESU Residency Requirement!!! 16cr, TECEP's do not count?!?

Thomas Edison State University | Per Credit Tuition Plan

That's my thinking too, though I don't understand why the advisor didn't mention this. They just categorically said "you will not have a capstone requirement" with no mention of any caveat like "as long as you're enrolled before May 25th". I'm basically on the same page as you from another post, perhaps another thread. I want to get in on the waiver and enroll before the cornerstone requirement comes into effect. I don't expect the cornerstone to be difficult, but I'm certain the PLA course will be much easier.

Maybe it's because even though I'm not enrolled, I'm still within the 6mo acceptance "grace period" to take some course or other to gain enrolled status under my current catalog.

Just received following email:

Thomas Edison State University has revised its undergraduate tuition plans and fees. The changes are designed to make it easier for students to select a plan based on how many credits they intend to take in a given year. The revised plans also include a reduction in the tuition cost for the Per Credit Tuition Plan, a new payment plan option for the Comprehensive Tuition Plan, the retirement of the Enrolled Options Tuition Plan and the elimination of several student fees.

Per Credit Tuition Plan
New Jersey residents: $385 per credit registered
Out-of-state residents: $499 per credit registered

Comprehensive Tuition Plan
New Jersey residents: $6,350 per year (12 months)
Out of state residents: $9,352 per year (12 months)

Payment Plan:
As of April 1, students who select the Comprehensive Tuition Plan (and who are not using financial aid) will be able to use a payment plan that will allow them to spread the annual tuition into three payments over the course of six months. Students who opt for the payment plan will be charged a one-time $35 set up fee.

Enrolled Options Tuition Plan
As of April 1, the Enrolled Options Tuition Plan will be retired. The decision to retire the plan was based on current engagement trends of our students and the University's desire to simplify tuition options for students. Students currently enrolled under the Enrolled Options Tuition Plan will be able to remain in the plan throughout the remainder of their current enrollment year. For example, if you began your current annual enrollment under the Enrolled Options plan on March 1, 2016, you will remain active in the plan until March 1, 2017.

Fees
As of April 1, the following fees will be eliminated: course registration fee, technology services fee, Enrolled Options annual enrollment fee, enrollment extension fee, annual enrollment late fee and the TECEPÂ rescheduling fee. Two new fees will be introduced as of April 1: Comprehensive Tuition Payment Plan Set Up fee ($35), and the Residency Waiver fee ($2,000).

The new undergraduate tuition plans and fees are effective as of April 1. Students interested in utilizing the Comprehensive Tuition payment plan (and who are not using financial aid) should contact the Office of Bursar at bursar@tesu.edu or (609) 984-4099. If you have any questions about tuition plans, academic residency requirements or fees, please contact the Learner Support Center at lsc@tesu.edu or (888) 442-8372.

So how will this effect someone like me? I am taking three TECEPs and 4 SL, that will conclude my degree hopefully by September. Do I pay graduation and residency waiver and done? or I have to pay under comprehensive tuition plan? I am confused....however, I my transcript currently shows I am in enrolled option plan.

If you're currently enrolled there's no change for you unless your term expires before you graduate.

I was told by someone in the Learner Support Center this morning that I would not be grandfathered under the new policy. I have taken 12 of my residency requirement credits via TECEP so far. Hard to believe that a UNIVERSITY would sell you a product that qualified for fulfillment of residency and then tell you it does not qualify. Seems akin to fraud.

I take it you weren't actually enrolled yet? It does suck, but that's the gamble you (and all of us) take when trying to game the system and build up a bunch of credits before being technically locked into a program.

No, I am enrolled and took my first TECEP in 2014. I have earned 12 credits via TECEP so far. I had also purchased 2 additional TECEP's that I was studying for to apply to the residency requirement.

Go to the site and look at the page for the Per Credit Tuition Plan. There is a note about Current students enrolled before Apr 1.

I am relieved to see that! However, it totally contradicts what I was told earlier. Hopefully they have this all sorted out internally now that the information seems to be official.

"Current students who were actively enrolled before April 1 are subject to the academic residency requirements in their Catalog year."

The quote is taken directly from this web page Thomas Edison State University | Per Credit Tuition Plan

This screams of the FEMA fisaco, where phonecalls and emails to TESU gave the information that FEMA would no longer be accepted in transfer from March 2014. Instead they did accept FEMA for a couple of months more, the FEMAs are on people's evaluations who applied to TESU after March 2014; but only the ones that were TAKEN before March 2014.

Personally I'd plod on as quickly as you can until something actually changes on your plan, or you're contacted by TESU regarding a change to your plan. However, it wouldn't hurt to have a PLAN B just incase.
