New & Need Help Choosing Program! :)
#1
Hi! I'm Ky.

You all seem very knowledgeable and I was wondering if anyone might have some insight for me. I've been accepted into TESC and am waiting on my transcript evaluation now, but I'm still not sure what degree my credits best match. I want to get started with CLEP exams, but I'm just not sure what to take yet.

Could you help me figure out what degree my credits are best suited for at TESC? I'm new to distance learning and really want to get my BA soon...Any idea how long it will take me?

I am an Excelsior student so I can't speak directly about TESC, but I just wanted to say you have a very solid foundation. I would guess that your credits will fit well into just about any directly short of a hard science degree requiring upper level Maths.

Welcome! Do you have any preferences about major, or do you just want to focus on completing as quickly as possible? Also, was your associate's degree from a community college or a university? I ask because TESC no longer counts community college credit as upper level.

I'm matching up your courses, and you seem to have all of your general education requirements completed, as well as 15 hours of Humanities credits and 12 hours of free electives. You could complete a BA in Humanities or Liberal Studies fairly easily. Any preferences?

Thank you for replying! Humanities was my first thought too, but I'm also really interested in the International Studies program. Do you think it would take much longer?

I like the International Studies program, but speed is also pretty important to me. My associate is from a community college in NJ, so I'll have to complete all 18 upper level credits I think. Any ideas on a timeline for me? Thank you so much for your help!

Sorry about all the replies, guess I should've done just one...Still learning to use the forum!

Does anyone have any recommendations for how I can gain some credit? I've taken a quick look at FEMA credits and CLEP exams. Can you take a CLEP for upper level credit? Are there other ways to earn upper level credit, or will I just have to take TESC online courses? What format are the courses usually taught in?

Thank you all so much, you have no idea how valuable your knowledge is! You guys should write a book! Smile

Were Modern American Novel and Women in Literature from a university or a community college? They would be upper level if they were from a university, otherwise they are lower level.

Some DSST tests are upper level. Most Excelsior College Exams (UEXCEL) are UL. There are also TECEPs, tests directly from TESC. Or you can take online classes from TESC. Those are the UL credit options I'm familiar with Smile
