Hi,
I am working towards a BSBA in accounting from TESC, am in need of the following courses (3 credits each):
- Intermediate accounting II
- Three courses in any auditing, taxing or accounting related credits (other than fundamental accounting). Basically I still need 9 credits in accounting electives.
- business policy
- International business or international marketing or international management
I know I can do most of these with TECEP, but I am looking for a cheaper option. I do not believe there are any CLEPs or DSSTs for these. I would also rather a guided class over a self study, since I tend to be lazy about it and the last time I did a self study course from LSU, it took close to a year for me to finish. banghead
Any help would be appreciated!
Thanx

I strongly recommend that you take Intermediate Accounting II at the same school at which you took Intermediate Accounting I !
You can easily get caught up in differences between textbooks or the sequences the material is covered in such that you will cover topics already addressed in Intermediate I, and totally miss coverage of other important topics.
Anyone desiring to transfer in Intermediate I at my B&M school has to have the syllabus evaluated before we accept it in transfer to avoid this problem.
Transferring both intermediate courses from a four-year school is rarely an issue. We generally don't accept intermediate in transfer from a community college.

Do you know if they have any guided classes, or are they all self study?

I found an old post where somebody recommended Chemeketa Community College for accounting credits. I looked them up and it is about $375 for a four credit class. That comes out to about the same as what I paid for LSU. Does anyone know if TESC would accept credits from this college? Should I just email TESC and see what they say?
Thanx

Chemetka is Regionally Accredited, so TESC will accept accounting credits from there. I'm pretty sure they are on the quarter system, so their 4 quarter credits would be worth only 2.67 semester credits- check on that, though.
Adams State College is an option for the non-accounting courses, especially for the Business Policy course. Here is their list of distance learning business courses:
Distance Learning, Business Courses, Extended Studies, Adams State College.
As for accounting electives, take ones you'll need if you ever take the CPA exam.

Thanks for reminding me about the CPA credits! I had looked into that originally, but forgot about them. I will revisit what I needed for the CPA and take that into consideration when taking business and accounting credits.
Thanks
