Need some input on a plan....sorry post is so long~

Ok all you brilliant folks with all the experience on a "journey toward a degree", I really need some input.

Below is a list of courses that credits have been earned ,training certifications, and CEU's.

Interest: Environmental studies, although I'm not sure if it has to be a Bachelors of '' " ". Maybe the focus could be as such or a minor could be earned as well.

I'm am just simply trying to compare the best avenue to achieve the results of something with Environmental.

There are many Certificate of Completions for Professional training, certifications, and CEU's that may possibly be able to earn some nontraditional credits for professional training ( I am simply not sure).

I also know that these would all need to be evaluated by a schools evaluations department and each school will have different possibilities, that's why I thought I might post here first for some advice.

I know here (locally) that the college will give 15 credit hours towards the salesperson license, but not sure how much the brokers licensure is worth for professional credits. Schooling and Training for these were separate.

Also have 36-48 CEU's for real estate.

Listed above, I typed what was listed on the Certificates earned. I know not all will apply, but they are all professional training and/or correspondence courses.

This looks a bit like my own educational history. Unfortunately, Excelsior didn't accept any of my CEUs or correspondence certifications. They were considered "not college level coursework". You may want to check out the ACE website to see if any of yours are considered college level. Then you could get those certs on an ACE transcript and then they would be more likely to be accepted. Excelsior only accepted my traditional college credits.

You're right, that's a varied list! I haven't attended any of the big 3 schools so take this with a pound of salt, but I'm suspecting that from that group you'll get some elective hours - especially your real estate hours - , but obviously will still have a number of hours to go towards your concentrations. How much credit you get may depend on rather ACE ever evaluated the courses that you've taken and how much credit ACE felt they were worth.

I recommend that you go ahead and have your information evaluated by the college you're considering attend. Once we know exactly where you need your hours, we can help you come up with a game plan to get them completed!

The problem of having them evaluated first is the following:

I know the eval. process by a school take a while.

I am not sure where to have him attend.

I would like to advise him (my hubby), of the school that will give him the most credits.

We are trying to figure out if he should try for an AA and transfer in here to the local college. They will give professional level credits for some....like at least 15 for the Real Estate Sales.......that's why I was thinking that somewhere else may give the other 15 for the Real Estate Brokers because its separate courses and mostly in management. He also has those others in CEU's for real estate, which is somewhere between 36-48.

I am thinking that someone will give him credit for his certification for OSHA as well. (He has taking the training and is now a certified auditor).

I was also thinking that if credits are given for FEMA, sure the US Dept. of Labor Training would qualify at some school whether they are listed on ACE as well. (but I am not sure).---He is now certified to teach Safety, Environmental and Sanitation in the Industrial field.

And lastly, the ones given by the Universities (i.e. University of Mo, and U of Purdue,), would they say that those are not college level as well?

That's why I simply don't know where to start.

To truly get them evaluated I would have to do all of the "big 3" and the local school here.

He can start clepping courses in the meantime, but I am not sure if FEMA will do him any good if the majority of these things transfer in as electives.

Does FEMA transfer in as Electives as well, or do any of them actually fit the bill for serving a particular class? And if so, which school and what class.

Yes it can happen.

For example my husband took a training class ( CEU credits) and when they ( the training providers) registered that course with ACE it created an account for him which he never knew existed until last year.

I think someone else on this site posted they had an account created for them ( which had Penn Foster courses on it) and they did not realize it until they attempted to create an account.

Brain122, sorry you could not find one there , I hope you do find a way to get credit for all your training.

If you are going to attempt a portfolio at a college you should start looking for courses at the college you want to attend that you can match your learning too ( or check to see if they let you match to other RA college courses) . Some colleges limit you to matching to their courses and some let you use any course at a Regionally Accredited college.
